Why wont Nintendo make a console Pokemon RPG

Start in any zone Kanto, Orange Islands, Johnto, Unova etc... with the respective starter pokemon for that zone. Art style just like the show, earn your badges, go in tournaments like in Pokemon Stadium, have a story, and be able to explore every zone. The gamepad can really be put to use for managing your pokemon, checkpoints etc..

I don't believe that Nintendo actually makes the games, they just publish it. Pokemon are created by the Pokemon company (actual name) and Gamefreak is the company that makes the games, I think. It's not Nintendo's fault that a Pokemon RPG hasn't surfaced.

IIRC, Nintendo owns the majority of the IP(51% of the rights,I think) so they do pretty much decide what Gamefreak develops. But I'm sure a Pokemon RPG on console would cannibalize their handheld sales

It's more popular on handhelds........ (I actually don't know, I don't follow the Nintendo scene as much as I want to)

Infact if Pokemon does come to Wii U you could expect developers to feel obligated into tapping into all of the Hardwares potential until eventually you have an Action RPG.... I mean lets be honest, Pokemon in its current state pretty much belongs on the 3DS, since its making adequate use of that machines capabilities.

yeah that could happen, however I think its hard to **** up pokemon even on a console debut.

Blasphemy! You would change Pokemon's usual game structure that has been done over 7 times, for over 10 years, to make an Amazing RPG pokemon game? We should have this man hanged, Everyone together! Boo this man..... BOOO!

I've often found myself wondering the same thing. Nintendo needs to move more console units at this point, and with little support from third party developers they need to step it up. It'd be an ace up the sleeve tactic to help pull the Titanic disaster that is the Wii U out of the water.
