Destiny, Treyarch's COD, new Halo, Titanfall, Infamous, The Crew, The Division, The Witcher 3. Honestly, these are all games that I would buy off-top for sure, Day One barring The Crew. Seriously. There hasn't been this much promise in a long time.

I dont see anything there that makes 2014 anything more special than 2013 or 12
So nah i dont think 2014 will be particular interesting , i think 2015 and 16 will be more interesting when the dev´s have gotten their hands on the new consoles and have begun to learn to take advantage of their power.
2002, 2011 and 2013 have been my favorite years so far, but i can't really tell if next year will be that big. We haven't got enough games that have a set date next year to truly be the best year ever. Maybe this time next year we can judge
Oh sure, just like every other single year that's been mentioned as 'the best year in gaming' since i can remember.
Last year wasn't one of the best to be honest. People were either finishing up their games for this year or working on next gen

It was for me with games like Torchlight 2, Legend of Grimrock, Tribes: Ascend, The Walking Dead episodes and XCOM: Enemy Unknown.
Overall though, i'd say 1998 and 2004 are tied as the best years in gaming ever. I don't think any other year can touch the amount of classics released in '98 and '04.
Every year, a bunch of people post threads wondering if it will be the best EVAR.
And halfway through every year, a bunch of people post threads wondering if it's the worst EVAR.
And chances are, those year will never be as good as 1998/99, and never as bad as 1983.
Given Dark Souls 2 comes out that year, it may very well be.
You and your dark Souls :D
He's been a fan of Dark Souls and I believe Demon's Souls for as long as I can remember. There's a good reason as to why that game is incredibly popular with folks like him. :)

Well yeah, to be honest it's kind of your own personal taste in the end. For me FFX alone made 02 the best year in gaming, but it also had some other great games. 2011 had games like arkham city, skyrim, uncharted 3, etc. This year also seems to be one of the best years with 3 games in contention in being perhaps the best games this generation even

Your memory must be limited then. I've only been a fan since last year.
And didn't you say you were gonna give Dark Souls another shot? Whatever happened to that?

What is it you find so good about it?
Yes I believe it will be. As far as I'm concerned gaming has pretty much been progressively getting better every year with perhaps the odd year here and there.
Given that gaming has progressively gotten worse every year since this gen started(contrary to what the above poster says) probably not, but hopefully it will at least take a turn for the better.
really? Why do you say that? It's gotten better in my opinion, though the business practices suck though

I was going to say that too.
I was invited to the Dark Souls II beta but unfortunately I had to work the only time it was playable.
Imagine my excitement to get that invite followed by complete and total disappointment, within minutes from each other. Heartbreaking.
With the games you listed it looks like a bad year. I'm hoping MGSV, The Evil Within, Last Guardian, and Naughty Dogs next gen game are all out next year.

Work has been getting in the way of that and a lot of games that I want to play, but can't do it. It's either work or laziness out of my part these days.

I don't really know much about these games... I'm basically done with Halo. The Division will probably be cool.
I think it'll be a really good year for film though
