These games are going to come out around the same time-span as Halo 3. And arguably, these titles have more potential to receive higher ratings, reviews, critical acclaim, and cult status more than Halo 3...yet, Halo 3 will sell more by name alone.

Anyway, what does everyone think? Will Halo 3's hype be quenched a bit under these other highly anticipated FPSs? Crysis will take the PC world by storm, Bioshock will be revolutionary, and Call of Duty 4 has the potential to win the hearts of the critics.

Halo 3 has some stiff competition...and honestly, I'm much, MUCH more excited about Crysis, Bioshock, and Call of Duty 4 than Halo 3, even though I'm anticipating to play as Master Cheif one last time.

Your thoughts.

As a halo fanatic I'd take halo 3 over all those game combined any day. But yea, I'm pretty sure "normal" people will find halo 3 quite uninteresting compared to the other fps's available this fall.

In terms of sales, I think its possible Halo could sell more than the other 3 combined. Its impossible to say which will be the best quality game, but I'm certain there will be many hundreds of posts on the forums dedicated to that dicussion.

No doubt Halo 3 will sell the most because of the hype, the name, and the anticipation from a lot of people on being eager to find out how the trilogy ends.

Also, games like Crysis, for example, will only cater toward the hardest of hardcore because of the steep system specs. Bioshock and Call of Duty 4, and I'll throw in Killzone 2, will have potential to put up Halo 3 numbers because they're all on consoles, but doubtful it can beat out Halo 3 in sales...maybe they'll get higher reviews, but that's about it.

Thats why people like it. It improves at what its good at. If I played Halo 3 online and it was not a Halo I and MANY others would be raged.

When you play Mario you expect the same thing but improved from its past games.

Its like watching the Simpson for 10 years and then turning it into an anime....A lot would not be happy.

Other games are different because they have to.

Crysis is a good game. Yu kno NUTHIN!!!!!

Personally, ITHINK Crysis, Bioshock, and COD4 all are better than Halo3. The Halo franchise is very standard for a FPS. Now COD4 is heart pumping. Bioshock is very interesting and undoubtly very fun, lets hope. And Crysis is just a very very good FPS like FEAR and Farcry. All better than Halo3. Those 3 should be in the limelight, and I think they are.

As far as a past track record is concerned we know Halo 3 will outsell the other titles. However as far as pushing boundries and advancing the quality of aFPS experience is concerned Bioshock and Crysis look set to really steer the industry into a new direction. The problem with sequels is that the standard has already been set from the first game and people will always compare to their experiences earlier in the series, whilst the new titles have a chance to start fresh and really innovate and invigorate a genre that, lets be honest, has gone a wee bit stale over the last year or so. Personally, although I am looking forward to Halo 3 I am much more looking forward to a fully more emersive experience with Bioshock.

End of babble.

I don't know. They are all greatly anticipated games for sure though. Bioshock is a little over a month away from Halo 3 and I'm not sure when CoD4 and Crysis will be released. As much as I really like and am planning to pick up Bioshock and possibly CoD4 Halo 3 is still my most anticipated game for the 360. Crysis looks awesome and I'd love to get that game but I don't even have a PC able to play it right now and with all the games coming out for the next several months it's hard to say when I'll get a chance to get the money together for a new PC so that probably dampens my enthusiasm for it right now.

Halo 3 was easily the second biggest franchise last gen, but when a new generation hits, things tend to change. In the past two generations, new franchises have dominated each generation on non-Nintendo consoles. Sure, Halo will make its money several times over (which is why the unimpressive graphics of the E3 build were a bit eyebrow raising) but I doubt it and GTA will reign in perpetuity. Some really brilliant game like Bioshock might come out of left field and become bigger than either of them.

Sales wise, I think that neither of those games pack the punch to touch what the Halo franchise represents, if only because the core demographics of Halo are far wider than the ones of those games. Maybe CoD could do something about it, but that would depend of the quality of the multiplayer experience.

From a critic standpoint, well, that's another story.

I think that Halo 3 well sell very well, I will wonder if it can do the same success as Halo 2, cause I don't see the same kind of hype out there, or maybe I am sheltered. But for me I can say that I am not looking forward to Halo 3 as much as Bioshock and to name others like Mass Effect or Assasin's Creed.

I believe that Crysis will do well on the EA name, Call of Duty 4 on the name itself. I am interested to see how Bioshock does, as I believe it isn't just a normal FPS as it will deviate a little. So it will be a interesting week when Bioshock and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption both come out. Both are very innovative.

Halo 3 has a big advantage in being the final game in the trilogy, in that all those people who bought Halo 2 wants to see how the whole thing ends...I want to play it for this reason alone.

Those three games have already stolen all the limelight away from Halo 3, when it comes to the games I'm anticipating. I highly doubt that will hold true for the mass market. Call of Duty 4 will be up there, but I doubt that Bioshock and Crysis can even compare with the financial success already set in stone for Halo 3.

Halo 3, will be the must own title for xbox 360 owners. Bioshock and COD 4 are the only games that can actually be consider in this catergory being as Crysis is a PC only, as of now. not every xbox 360 owner owns a high end PC to run Crysis. with no official release date it's hard to say if COD 4 would even be released close enough Halo 3 to steal it's glory. Bioshock is being released a good month and half before Halo 3, so it's doubtful that it will dent Halo 3's impact. if any game is going to steal the glory from Master Chief, personally, it's going to be the most influential franchise of the last couple years, GTA4. GTA4 will be release two weeks after Halo 3 crash lands on the 360.

With the exception of GTAIV, I guess the thread was more about FPSs, and pointing out how Halo 3 has some tough competition this time around...and a heck of a lot to live up to.

Halo 3 has almost unreachable expectations to achieve, however Bioshock is the game that will probably have the most to prove. System Shock has a cult following that rivals that of most mainstream games. COD 4 will sell great, even if it's garbage(which is doubtful). Halo was great cause it introduce a really amazing FPS on a console, and Halo 2 just did better graphics and added online multiplayer. Halo 3 is throwing some new toys, some more maps, and better graphics. Halo 3 can't compete with PC FPS as seen from Halo 1 & 2 being released on PCs. Halo 3 isn't going to reinvent anything, it's just going to do it better. Bioshock and COD 4 are trying something new, and from previews and demos are going to suceed. Sales wise only Madden/Pokemon is going to trump Master Chief.

Greatness.

Me thinks some of you are sick of hearing so much about the franchise and underestimate Bungie, who've proven many times over that they really do have the talent to make Halo 3 outshine all of those games, even from a critical perspective, if they are firing on all cylinders.

I think I'll add one more to the ol' hype meter just to make the detractors even more irritated with its greatness. Halo 3 is going to be sooooo sick! :D

The gaming community as a whole? Yes because it is very popular amongst seldom gamers, fans, and many others. The majority of seldom gamers and casuals haven't even heard of Crysis and Bioshock, and Call of Duty has never sold as much as Halo. In my eyes no, since IMHO every console FPS is either decent or just flatout sucks compare to the PC greats. Haven't played one that has impressed me since Goldeneye, though I skipped Perfect Dark which I've heard is just as good.

For all the "Yeah, it'll sell more, but such and such shooter is obviously going to be the better game" people, remind me not rub it in too much when Halo 3 ends up critically better than the majority of these games listed.:P

The greatness of this game has just begun to be realized with the 4 player co-op announcement. Seriously. If they were saving annoucments like this for AFTER E3, I think it's pretty safe to assume that Bungie has systematically and methodically planned to underpromise and overdeliver. This game is on its own announcment schedual. E3 was lucky to get that morsel of single player coverage.

The averagevideo game playerdoesn't know Crysis or Bioshock exist. Many Call of Duty fans don't even know who Infinity Ward is. Halo 3 is the game that even the loser who playsMadden on his360 knows about, and if he buys a game in the coming months, that is what it will be.

Also, I love how people forget that HALO 1 AND 2 BOTH GOT AWESOME REVIEWS! It seems like the hate pours out and everybody is out there to tell me it is very, very average. Halo is not original, Halo just copied the regenerating shields and 1-button grenede tosses from... oh wait, Halo was the first game to implement those features well...

In other news, The Orange Box will be better yet because there is no way Portal, Half-Life 2 and the 2 episodes, and Team Fortress 2 will all suck. At least one of those games will turn out awesome. The only bad part is that there will only be 1000 achievment points.

Halo is a known quantity so obviously it will sell well no matter what games are out.

Crysis is a PC-only game and will not affect the console market much.

I think Bioshock is the only one that will really affect Halo 3 in popularity because not only is COD4 a sequel, but it's also 'yet another military shooter' regardless of how brilliant it's storyline and gameplay.

Well I am hoping they are all great games, but I am most excited about Bioshock. I think it will bring storytelling back to console gaming.

But I think Halo 3 will remain untouchable as far as hype unless the gameplay is not good, which is doubtfull considering how many great people are working on it.

Halo 3 is the one stealing the limelight from Crysis, Bio, and CoD 4. All of those are great games, but Halo 3 is better and has by far the largest returning fan base. Pre-orders already above 1 million show this.

Bioshock will be really great the first time I play through it. I'll play through it once more before setting it down.

Won't get the chance to play Crysis and neither will the vast majority of gamers.

COD4 looks like a solid shooter but it doesn't look like anything but COD2 will modern wepons. The lack of co-op (let alone 4 player online co-op), single player leaderboards, and saved films will make COD4's campain boring after a single playthrough because it's just a series of scripted events. COD's multiplayer component has the greatest chance of challenging Halo's. Yet Halo has so much more variety with it's sci-fi weapons, vehicles, and arenas. Then there's Halo's saved films which will make custom games a blast.

That said, I'll be picking up Bioshock next week and both Halo 3 and COD4 later on.

Being popular doesn't make it a great game just like Mcdonalds is popular but serves **** food.

simply put: no

Halo is to big a name for any of the games mentioned to keep up with

i mean lets all face it if halo 3 were to come out on the ps3 would any of us think of buying it after they bought crysis or COD 4

the only reason now there isnt alot of talk about it is because people are tired of gossiping over halo they've spent the last 2 years doing so and r just going to wait until it comes out.... Halo3's sucess wont be noticable from the pre talks oon forums or the flame wars or peeps gloating over it it wil just hit the markets bam and will be a major sucess

ASK_Story

In terms of review scores, Yes, espically Bioshock, but in terms of sales? No, matter of fact hell no.

Halo 3 pushed the limelight away with an average demo. Coming from someone who still rates Halo:CE as one of my top 3 favorite games of all time, I'm not even sure Halo 3 registers amongst my top 5 most anticipated games coming out this year. The formula is played out and the actual execution of fun gameplay was done best in the first one. If they re-released Halo:CE with online multiplayer and updated graphics, I'd be more excited than I am for Halo 3.

I've never been a big Halo fan, so Bioshock has really lured me. Although CoD4 is looking pretty great, and I'm hyped. I'm not sold on Crysis yet, though. It looks a lot like a vanilla FPS with pretty graphics.

I think Halo 3 will sell more than all 3 combined i mean look at the pre-orders its ridiculous.I think all three games will be better than Halo 3 Crysis looksgorgeous, its the game that made me update my computer. Bioshock looks insane and has everything you need in a single-player FPS and COD4 looks great too not as much as Bioshock and Crysis but should still please. Oh and that legendary version of halo 3 is such a rip so many fanboys are going to spend an extra 60 bucks for a master chief helmet that seems kind of sad. Its crazy how much attention Halo 3 gets, and i think i heard some where that burger king might even make those little kiddy meals with halo 3 toys but I'm not sure about that. So to end this post i'll say Halo 3 will sell but will be nothing great compared to some of these games coming out.
