Does anyone know if, after the game is patched, GS will change their review of Fallout: New Vegas and remove the broken/buggy emblem?

I know its not a big deal because I can just read the review, and know that they fixed it and I know they will probably have that little box in the review that talks about DLC/patches but do you guys think they will change the score?

I've never seen them change the score but they will put a little box in about the patch and tell how much/little it improved the game.

7.5 is still good for a buggy game.

no, why should they? Reviews are never changed after patch and never should be, developers shouldn't be rewarded for releasing buggy/unfinished games.

I'm sure people are crying because "omg it isnt AAAE!" , as if every game with a 9.0 or higher is a gift from above.

They shouldn't change it.

They reviewed the project that was released, the review matches the product that was reviewed.

They did what they're supposed to. I'm personally of the opinion that the product that ships on release day is the FINISHED product, and should be reviewed as it is at that point. Because that's the state that it's gonna be when people buy it. Patches can be released later, but that doesn't change the fact that what's being sold is an unfinished buggy product being sold before it's ready for release. And reviews should reflect that.

Why? They knowingly released a game that was riddled with bugs and performance issues. Plus a 7.5 is still a good score and that's pretty damn good for a buggy game.

I doubt it. The PC and GOTY versions will get new scores. There's the Obsidian's chance.

Exactly. If Bethesda/Obsidian wanted a better review, they should've released a completed, thoroughly tested product.

Exactly. People impressed by Fallout 3 aren't the type of people who care about bugs and a lack of polish, so I doubt reviewers complaining about the sloppiness of the latest Fallout will harm sales anymore than people complaining about excessive gore in the latest Saw movie hurt sales.

No. And it shouldn't change. Not everyone has access to the internet to get these patches. This is a review for the product on the shelf. End of story.

Besides, with the little that changed from Fallout 3, these glitches are completely inexcusable. How is this game not polished when the core game is the same minus a few stat changes and upgradable weapons? Did they completely fix everything, then add in fine aiming and all of a sudden the glitches from Fallout 3 returned?

the only problem is that game has a lot of bugs (surprise) which Fallout game doesn't? People should get over that issue. Gameplay makes the game

In my opinion the total GS Player review score and Metacritic scores are better to refer to anyway.

Yeah metacritic is probably the best way to go since it gives you a multitude of professional opinions. Although I NEVER trust the player scores. Reason enough for me is that every japanese game has a far higher score for players than reviewers, not because they are better than the reviews make them out to be, but because they have a following that loves every JRPG no matter how bad. Its mainly just a bunch of fanyboys rating the games.

I think it's you who haven't really thought this topic through while you were making the tread and replaying in it.

It has never been done before, why would you argue for it or even ask when it comes to New Vegas if the score has no meaning for you? makes no sense.

maybe it'll get some redemption with the GOTY edition, I think they'll just stick with their review for now

The PC version got an 8.5, if that helps. Also, for what it's worth, I'm almost 15 hours in and haven't encountered a single problem yet (aside from the minor quicksave issue, which has already been patched).

They shouldnt, If they do they might as well hire more staff to work around the clock giving other games the same treatment, starting from EVE Online, TF2, WoW etc. I think it is up to the player-base to provide progressive feedback on the state of the game and how to get the experience from the product; like say in the case when someone mentions "should I play Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines" and you'll hear positive things from all the patches put out for that game.

If history is any indication, no amount of patches will fix this thing enough to warrant raising the score.

I've played maybe 8 hours, and encountered a couple freezes in the same place and several cases of having no sound when the game started. That's about it. So I'm okay for now.
