I doubt the new xbox or ps4 will be out for years yet. As people are still buying the Xbox 360 and PS3.Think of the time gap between the PS2 realse and PS3.
Many people are sure new systems will be coming around 2011-2012. I for one, am not happy about this speculation.
Think about it, its like your mother taking away your plate of food before you're able to finish or taste it.

Unless they have backward and forward compatibility. Not many people think of forward compatibility in a console, but it is like PC gaming. You don't have to upgrade every year to play the newest game, but if you don't you don't get the best graphics experience. I'm hoping the next gen is more like that. Then it is more like letting people upgrade if they so desire and slowly people can migrate on to the next gen.
of course the xbox will come out first as the xbox 360 has more or less maxed out on the technology it has at the minute, and there is not much more they can do to in-prove it, Whereas thePs3 has got the technology to have many, many significant future updates not just software changes.:)

Xbox 720 (that is the guaranteed code name, not the final name) will be released late 2010, early 2011. PS4 I have no clue, but it will be after the next Xbox. How do I know? My uncle is working for ATI/AMD on the next Xbox chipset. They've been working on it physically for a few months now.

I frankly don't care what you say, it's the truth. Microsoft is sticking with ATI, the Xbox 720 as they call it will be backwards compatible and should be out 2010 to early 2011.
buying new consoles is a hassel for me because it take up a huge portion of my christmas presents instead of buying new games for the existing console or it uses up all the money I've saved for like 2 years.
