Lost Odyssey is a turn based rpg. Its basicly like one of the old turned based Final Fantasy's if there was one ever to be made on current gen consoles.

Do you ever think there will be another game like Lost Odyssey to come out?

I'd love for Final Fantasy to go back to their roots and make something like their games on Ps1.

Well, Lost Odyssey was created in part by Hironobu Sakaguchi, creator of Final Fantasy. So it's no coincidence that it reminds you of Final Fantasy; Sakaguchi worked on every game from I to X in some capacity. He also made Blue Dragon for Xbox 360 and The Last Story on Wii, which comes out in the US at the end of July.

Most people who have played The Last Story consider it to be a final fantasy game in spirit. Of course it isn't turn based and it is rather short.

I was hoping that they would make Lost Odyssey 2, it was a fantasic game.

I loved Lost Odyssey,

The atmosphere, the presentation... everything about it really. it gave me the feeling like i was playing a game from the past. the random encounters i didnt even mind.

i wish people would stop complaining about certain things like random encounters. sure they are annoying, but i prefer that, than dodging every creature i see.

but back to the topic, lost odyssey, i would do anything for a sequel, or at least to have a final fantasy like series, in the title of lost odyssey

Lost Odyssey is a great game - and I hope that they continue the series. The Last Story for the Wii is essentially a Final Fantasy in all but name and well worth your time when it is released. Sadly, there has been a dearth of JRPG's this gen.

I don't want to spoil anything, but Xenogears is similar.

No, it was a below average game that garnished 6's and 7's galore, don't expect any more but that.

When the hell did 6's and 7's become below average?

Eh, those scores reflect the evolution reviewers wanted to see out of JRPGs for the new generation. I think the game would have scored much higher if they had known that crap like FFXIII was going to be the direction JRPGs would take.

Haha Amen. I adored Lost Odyssey. Aside from the completely one-dimensional villain and the low difficulty that only dips further and further toward the endgame, I thought it was a terrific RPG, perhaps the best one I've played since the PS2 days. The story was just so fresh in some places, and those visual novel sequences were awe-inspiring. It's really disheartening to see that JRPGs as we've understood them for the last 20 years are basically just... going away. Action RPGs are popping up all over the place in lieu of the traditional JRPG experience, and that bothers me, because sometimes I just want to kill bad guys via menus and nothing else. :P

Oh - you're right. I forgot about that. In that case - I can strongly recommend The World Ends With You and the Mario and Luigi titles.
