Zenimax has been buying developers for years ,and i think they will buy some this year, simply because Skyrim has sold 10mil + units since its release and Zenimax gained a lot of Money. They also migth get an invesment from Providence Equity Partners like they got in late 2010 and 2007.

I am still waiting for some anouncements from:

Tango Gameworks

MachineGames

Zenimax Online Studios

Also does anybody know what hapened to MachineGames? I haven,t heard from them since Zenimax bougth them.

Your thoughts?

My guess is yes. There are a few things to this, so bear with me for the explanation.

Zenimax has been agressively buying up studios for some time, and they have aquired quite a bit of talented and/or famous people from the gaming industry, in order to become a powerhouse.

This brings me to the "I belive so" IF THQ is going to go belly up, sell off some of its core dev studios, Zenimax is in my eyes one of the most likely Publisher houses/talent pool to buy up those studios.

I am not clear on Zenimax as a publisher, as it seems to be a fair bit different then what we are used to see. I have a feeling that talent shifts around from thier enternal studios, and they appear to have some strong strings to hollywood, since they always get a hold on actors writers and so on from there (not like that is a good move for the most part).

Basicly for the last few years Zenimax has been really agressive in thier expansion, both within gaming as a publisher, but also in alot of other areas within the industry.

My guess is that they are trying to become a huge publisher like EA or Acticvision. They seem to make alot of gambles on the games they greenlight (good for us gamers). But they surely has a bucketload of cash to spend, as they have demonstrated several times.

The most likely as mentioned is buying up dev teams that has been let go. As for dev teams weve heard nothing about. I think Zenimax is already gearing up for the next console cycle. I think there are alot of people (and not just at zenimax) who are allready building engines, and making drafts.
