So the only RPGs I have played are Pokemon and Guild Wars. Pokemon I found to be a lot of fun for some reason but Guild Wars was a complete waste of money as it just seemed like you keep running from point A to B and back, etc. Whats Witcher 2 like? Is it like Pokemon in terms of gameplay?

Secondly whats the combat like? Is it laid back where you just have to make decisions regarding what kind of attack to do or is like Batman Arkham series where you actively take part in the combat and use combos and stuff?

With Action-RPG's its always sometype of middle ground between actively doing something and you having done something pre-emptively that decides the effect the active deed has. In short, its a blend between active and passive skills. Personaly I hate mixing those two therefore I hate action-RPG and at the end of that chain I hate The Witcher

It's more like guild wars where you become a slave to the race of lazy villagers who can't leave their houses incase they are allergic to fresh air. as for gameplay it's a lot like RPGs like skyrim/fable but with a twist (The game expects you to be the sort of person who'll read a 1000000 page encyclopdia to learn how to play the game XD)

Witcher 2 is more like Batman Arkham series, but with magics (you slow time when you are selecting a magic) and no counters. Just.... don't expect Pokemon in Witcher 2. But, the easy mode is pretty laid back, the combat is very easy in that. But you will have problems starting from normal. Also. You run A LOT in Witcher. Sometimes too much. Some quests consists only of moving between 3 or 4 places and talking to people and making decisions.

The Witcher is like some sort of adult-oriented Zelda game, imo.

The closest thing to Pokemon would be Monster Hunter.

SMT series shares some similarities with Pokemon, yeah

Another good option would be Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker for the DS. Tons of similarities with Pokemon in that game.

From what I understand, the Witcher 2 is not for begginers. Might jsut want to stick with Pokemon and slowly branch out to other ones like Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy.
