Obviously, this wont be Blizzards last expansion, but in my opinion, it WILL be their last one being the 800 pound gorilla amongst MMOs. I will be playing on Dec 7th, and look forward to doing so. Going to roll a lock goblin, level a 80 to 85, do rated battlegrounds etc.

BUT, even with the new content, it will only be a question of time before that old feeling of burnout sets in. Two months? Perhaps a bit longer/shorter? With 2011 being a MONSTER MMO year, Blizzard will lose alot of subscribers. Now Im not saying they wont still be amongst the top few games, but they will no longer be King of the Mountain. SWTOR, RIFT, GW2, and a few others will be the catalyst.

Im going to try and play Cataclysm with a fresh eye and attitude and look forward to the new content. Personally, it will be my last expansion with World of Warcraft. Its been alot of fun, but it grows old, oh so old, even with new content...

Anyone else having thoughts of this being their last dance with Blizzard?

I believe wow will still be king of the hill, but the hill won't be as stable as it used to be. Sure games will take some steam from wow, but I think wow will stay on top for many more years to come.

WoW has been old news since Burning Crusade came out. I can't understand how people can still be playing it... :?

im not sure if i will come back for cata or not id love to lvl up a worgen druid but as you said op after 2 months id probably be bored it happened to me with BC and WOTLK raiding became a chore and other than that everything was getting boring, i reckon blizz has at least 2 more xpac in them Emerald Nightmare and Maelstrom. But im still hoping for a Warcraft IV but with Diablo 3 on the horizon and no doubt an xpac for that alsothe SC2 trilogy of games and possibly a wow 2 im thinking Warcraft IV is probably 5-10 years away.

There have been many proclaimed wow killers. They have all failed so far.

Everyone keeps saying that WoW will die with nearly every upcoming MMO, both big or small. It hasn't happened. It's not going to happen. WoW is way too far ahead of any other existing MMO and to match it with a new MMO would cost billions (yes, billions) of dollars in development to catch up - and thats too risky for any publisher to take. So long as its getting new content with updated philosophies that players want, why would they die out? The game continues to change and update and will do so in response to any competition or threat. WoW will die when Blizzard decides it to be so.

Pretty much this. WoW is like the Game Boy of MMOs. I personally HATED WoLK but patch 4.0 has completely changed my viewpoint on the game. I am loving it much more now.

I'm still debating on whether or not I'll be playing in Cata. I doubt I will go back, I think I'll just continue playing Reach until Brink comes out later this year.
