Please don't mention an iPhone games, it is kind of obviouls they have bad control layouts due to only having a touch screen.

For me it was True Crime Streets of LA on the original Xbox, the left trigger was used to enter and exit cars. The left trigger on Xbox games with cars is mainly used for breaking and the control layout in True Crime led to so many accidental bail outs.

Medal of Honor: Frontline for the PS2.

You're given between two control layouts when you first play the game which you can't change. I chose the option where you had to aim using the right analogue stick. It was way too slow to react to the AI and because of that I never got passed the Market Garden missions.

The Thing, at least for Xbox, wasn't the most comfortable. I also remember Second Sight not having an invert-aim option, which made the game a lot harder for me than it should have been.

Mario kart 3ds its just really uncomftable holding ure thumb at an angle for 5 mins and the worse thing is you cant cutomize the controls. Just shows how terribly overrated it is.

I'd have to go with Super Street Fighter IV on the 3DS. I love Super Street Fighter IV so I got a version I could take with me on the go, but alas, the controls make the game completely unplayable for me

Turok 2: Seeds of Evil. I remember almost returning that game because of how awkward and confusing the controls were. Took me several hours to finally get the hang of them.

So much this. Not only were the controls themselves counterintuitive but the game's main method of movement was completely unlike anything else you had ever played, making the entire experience even more frustrating until you got the hang of it. And even then it never felt quite right.

What? No! The game is an on-rails shooter that's fairly... different and it works really well IMO.

Anyways, Exhumed or Sonic 3D Blast without the analog controller for the Saturn.

King's Field series. Very difficult move and look around when you only have the d-pad to turn and go forward/backwards, L2/R2 buttons to look up/down, and L1/R1 to strafe. Anyone who has played this games knows you move around like you're in a world made of molasses. It's almost a two-hour learning curve just for the controls.

Rainbow Six on PS1. Imagine a first person shooter where the left stick walks forward and backwards and turns right and left and the right stick looks up and down and strafes. More recently, any FPS where you have to click the right stick to aim.

I basically threw away my copy of RE5 becuase i didnt feel comfortable with the controlls. Monster Hunter 3 was similar (classic controller), eveything felt unnatural - probably because I'm used to 360 controls. To be honest, the control layout of many Japanese developed games on the classic controller feel weird to me.

Default control scheme of Bully was quite bad, but once I configured them to something more confortable it was a breeze and easy to play.

I would also like to add Mirror's Edge and Splinter Cell Trilogy (haven't played Double Agend and Conviction) but unlike True Crime Streets of LA, you get used to those pretty fast.

Also the resident evil series has never been known for good controls but once you get used to them it is alright.

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops This is one of the few occasions where I stopped playing a game because the controls were so frustrating. There is a lot I can put up with... but that nub being used like an analogue stick was just too much.

Werent all the N64 FPS games controlled like that as well. I cant quite remember but its sounds very similar to the control style of Goldeneye & Perfect Dark

Also i think some of the games that use the right click aim ( ADS ) are designed around hip firing. Rainbow 6 vegas games have that as well. The ADS is there if you want to use it but i tihnk they purposely design some of the games with the right click aim so that players will avoid it & play it the way they intened ( Hip Firing ).

The controls in Epic Mickey for the nintendo Wii, completely ruined what would other wise be a pretty darn decent platformer with a twist.
