I've had the game for about a year and I haven't gotten around to playing it yet. It is definitely the next game that I'm going to play though. I've heard such great things about the game I'm a little ashamed to say that I haven't tried it out yet.

I thought it was a pretty horrable piece of crap and was appauled by the news that their would be a second one. Combat was OK but the stages and the storyline sucked. If you want a beat em up try Colosseum: Road to Freedom. Now thats fun. Between: Beat Down, Yakuze, Urban Reign, Final Fight Streetwise X, The Warriors, and god hand that all got dumped around the same time, I'd probably go with Urban Reign. I never got to play FF:Street. Beatdown was cool but had way to many load screens and not enough cutomization, yakuza had way to many load screens, no customization, The Warriors had cool combat, but no customization and no replay value, God hand...sucks, HORRABLE controls and graphics. Urban Reign wasnt really great as a beat-em up with how cheap you had to fight sometimes but it had the most open stages and most vareity.

Overall i think ps2 got screwed in beat-em ups. Drakengard, Dynasty/Samurai Warriors, Colosseum are about the only ones i enjoy. I think one of the best was Super Double Dragon on SNES. You could catch a foe's arm and then kick him in the face or bash your fist into his face repeatedly and then chuck him over your shoulder. We need something over the top like that again.

Its a very mixed bag, in terms of gameplay if you liked the warriors its very similar but follows a much deeper Japanese crime based story which i really liked. The major downside is sometimes the frequent amount of fights which can get a little repetitive and the loading screens which become far too frequent.

Anyone with an interest in crime thrillers or beat em ups should check it out as its pretty worthwhile.

Meh, for me Yakuza was...pretty boring.

I personally find God Hand and The Warriors to be better beat'em ups...and State of Emergency, if it counts.
