My best gaming experience?
When Grand Theft Auto: Vice City hit the store shelves but I couldn't buy it yet because A) It was too close too my birthday, which was like a month after it launched. B) It was out of stock for a number of days due to high demand. One day my dad and I went out to Blockbuster to see if they had a copy for rent (I really couldn't wait to play this game, little to-be 14 year old me). Nothing on the shelves...
However, right as we were just about to leave through the exit door, a guy enters the store with a video game box and placed it on the counter as he was returning it. I was so close to leaving the store but I had to ask the clerk what game this person just returned. You can figure out the rest.
Man, that was the happiest moment in my life. I had a weekend to play it so I played the living hell out of it. Beat the story within just under 3 days, then continued finishing up the rest when I got the game for my birthday a short time later.
My best gaming experience this year - Hitman: Absolution.
My best gaming experience of all time - Bioshock.
Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix. Prior to that I'd never really played an action/adventure game, just NES stuff and a few PS1 combat type things. And I'd always choose which game to buy based on the picture on the box :) then I got the internet and started reading game reviews and Retro Helix looked really interesting. I was just blown away. Really long game on 4 disks with tons and tons of extremely varied environments, the characters were great, it had an actual story (though I didn't really understand it). That was a great experience from beginning to end.
I have so many, but I'll just name a few:
-Playing Super Mario 64 back in the day, the graphics and gameplay were incredible.
-Playing through Metroid Prime, the music, atmosphere and gameplay were incredible.
-All of the hours I've put into playing Super Smash Bros Melee with friends, definitely my favorite multiplayer game by far.
-Playing through all the Mega Man games on the Anniversary Collection, those were some great challenging games.
Too many and to specific to list but in short:
- Final Fantasy VIII
- Final Fantasy IX
- Uncharted 2
- Rogue Galaxy
- Playing Metal Gear Solid 4, after finished MGS1 years ago and 2, 3 and PW just a few months before playing 4 itself (This is the most outstanding for me so far)
- The Secret of Monkey Island
- The Last Story being released in EU (though I STILL haven't really played it yet >___< )
- The Elder Scrolls III - Morowind (For a while I was SO immersed I literally LIVED in Vvardenfell! Took lunch when my Character did and went to bed in game before doing so in RL. Yeah, I was THAT addicted to that game for a while. Never before, never after any game felt THAT immersive to me.)
And I guess Ni No Kuni - Wrath of the White Witch will make an addition to this list too soon.
a few:
GTA 3 for the first time. Never heard a radio like that in a game.
For some reason I've never liked GTA games afterwards.
World of Warcraft vanilla. It was the richest most lively game world I've ever seen.
Mass Effect 2's biotic charge. I actually don't care for much of the series, but the biotic charge is great.
Beyond good and evil and prince of persia sands of time
