well my absolute favourite would have to be Street Fighter Alpha 3 , my favourite 2D fighting game.
and to top it off, the Saturn version I own was the best at the time (its still the best in most ways) , even better then the Dreamcast version.
others include Dead or Alive and Dead Or Alive 2 , X-men vs Street Fighter , Die Hard Arcade, Manx TT Superbike, and others.
Yeah that Simpsons arcade game was so much fun with a couple of buddies. Also Terminator 2 Judgment Day, MK 2, Crusin U.S.A. and Carnevil are the rest of my favorites.
oh yeah , Daytona, forgot about that one. Sega Rally is also very good. I went to an arcade a few months ago , they had a Sega Rally 3 machine, great funIn no particular order:
M3tr4nk0
- Cruis'n World
- Daytona USA
- Metal Slug
- Sega Rally
- Silent Scope
- The House of the Dead
- Virtua Cop 2
Oh man I've got a lot. I gravitated towards arcade games as a kid. And I grew up in the 80s and 90s, so I was at the perfect age to play the best ones. I mostly liked the beat-em ups. Here's a list of my favorites over the years.
From those I played: Space Harrier, Outrun, Afterburner, (Super) Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat II, Killer Instinct, Virtua Fighter 2, Samurai Shodown 2, ect.
The Silent Scope series has got to be my favorite, closely followed by any Sega arcade racing game (eight player Daytona USA and Ferrari F355 Clallenge are my favorites). Other games I enjoy include Time Crisis 3 (4's calibration is god-awful and theothers are mediocre), the AfterBurner series and anything with a crazy peripheral at the center.
I despise anything by Midway, their games feel like complete ripoffs. Overly difficult and nothing to really differentiate itself from true games other than blood or licenses. Hydro Thunder and Rush 2049 were okay though.
the jurassic park games
house of the dead games
silent scope
star wars
trog
area 51 (becuase its the campiest game I know of)

Believe it or not, but I was not a fan of those games. Xmen(Marvel) vs Street Fighter just wasn't as balanced as the real deal. Where I grew up, there were kids that thought it was sacrilege to go the VS. route. I also always, even to this day, prefer the visuals of the regular Street Fighter. Unfortunately, Arcades started to die down when Street Fighter 3 landed, but lord is that game beautiful--can't wait for the hd remake. I will say that i've come to appreciate Alpha 3, thanks in part to my psp.
I'm sure I missed a few loved arcade games. ...now I'm trying to think.

Definitely House of the Dead. It's the only one that I would still play today if I were to see it somewhere.Second_RookI assume you know its on the Saturn right? though sadly the Saturn version was rushed so despite being 2 years newer then Virtua Cop 2 , it actually looks worse in most ways.
my favorite arcade game is Shinobi.
Then many games from Capcom, Out Run by Sega too. Well not played many games but good

Yeah, the Saturn port of HotD looks pretty bad, and it has some slowdown too. Also, the PAL and Japanese versions don't have red blood (only green) and the US version is somewhat rare. But it's still the best version aside from the arcade.
There are still some House of the Dead arcades around here, but most of them are badly calibrated.:x

interestingly enough , HoTD Saturn was not done by Sega, it was done by an Australian developer called Tantalus, who also did the Saturn ports of Wipeout 2097 and Manx TT Superbike (both good Saturn ports) another interesting thing is that Tantalus was owned by Psygnosis.....who were owned by Sony :Pahhhh the golden yrs of gamming i swear i spent more time at the arcade then home but neways my best arcades games are. TMNT , simpsons arcade , wwf arcade, MK I, II,III, killer instinct, daytona USA, sega rally , NFL blitz , nba jam TE, Xmen arcade, street fighter , leathal enforcer, virtual cop, house of the dead , god so many to name lol great times indeed awesome post
Despite EGM listing it as one of the worst games ever made, my favorite acrade game of all time is Revolution X. Constant carnage, cool boss fights, Aerosmith and a dash of twisted humor.
Star Wars Trilogy
House of the Dead 1&2 (unfortunately never got to play the others)
Time Crisis series
Any of the Tekken games, TMNT, Crazy Taxi, Pacman, and Time Crisis 2 and 4. Actually there are a lot more but I don't remember the names...
Just going to list games I've actually played in arcades:
Radiant Silvergun
Ibara
Armed Police Batrider
Virtual-On
Para Para Paradise
House of the Dead III
Guilty Gear XX
Marvel vs. Capcom
Time Crisis 2 and 3
The Game Paradise
My list isn't that long due to being brought up in a Console era but:
1. Time Crisis
2. Time Crisis 2
3. Time Crisis 3
4. Time Crisis 4
5. Time Crisis - Crisis Zone
6. Time Crisis - Razing Storm
