Mine is the very first one, mainly cause it has lots of memories and I still play it to this day. dig out the old NES to play this one. And I really did like Symphony of the Night as well, it was my second favorite, Alucard was just awesome. And Lament of Innocence was my favorite 3D CastleVania game. I felt this game was just awesome
the first one on nes.. nothing has topped that for me...giant vampire bat, frankenstien, dracula, the grim reaper,mummys...its the ultimate horror game.
part2 and 3 can go away..
castlevania 4 on snes starts out epicly then sort of tapers off but is a really good game...
i picked up symphony of night on ps1 on ebay the other day... i hear you cant choose your charcater in this version.,..doesnt matter original is usually the best.
My top 5 Castlevania games in order:
Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin. Haven't played Order yet. I like the NES games, never played it on SNES, and pretty much didn't like everything after. Still haven't played SotN.
If you liked Aria and Dawn of Sorrow, you'll like SotN as it pretty much started the whole "Metroidvania" style Castlevanias.Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin. Yeah I don't know what's wrong with me. I guess I'm just lazy. Will probably pick it up for the PSP soon though. Thanks for the recommend.
As long as we're talking about Legacy ones, I'm gonna say Aria of Sorrow. I haven't played every Castlevania game, but Aria of Sorrow is my favorite Legacy one that I have played. And I'm still working on beating Harmony of Dissonance.
Circle of the Moon. It was the first of the Metroidvania style Castlevania's I'd played, and overall it's more challenging and better balanced than the metroidvanias I've played since.
The original Castlevania is a distant second. It's also an excellent game, but CotM is among my favourite games.
My top five Castlevania games:
1. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS1)
2. Castlevania (NES)
3. Castlevania II: Simon's Quest (NES)
4. Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse (NES)
5. Super Castlevania IV (SNES)
1. SotN
2. Aria of Sorrow
3. Portrait of Ruin
4. Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse
5. Lament of Innocence
let me get back to ya on that as i just got super castlevania iv for 3 bucks , already had sotn sincelaunc on ps1 and x360 so let me get back to ya so far its iv , partly due to the price i paid for these
BTW anybody have any details on why they removed CotM from the timeline? Was it ego on the part of the original creator, or was there a real reason for it?
Iga's ego. Funny how that rolls off the tongue. Also how we got one of the most badass characters in the series-- Sonia Belmont-- removed. Because Iga is a chauvinist. A WOMAN CAN'T FIGHT DRACULA, LOL. Never mind the awesome implications of Trevor being Alucard's son, i.e. Trevor Belmont is 1/4 Dracula and ironically fights said grampa at the end of CV3.BTW anybody have any details on why they removed CotM from the timeline? The first one. Not only was it very challenging but each time I got farther in the game, there was a feeling of success. After all that time, I still havent finished it. :(
