Super Metroid. I played it on the Snes, but it is currently available on the Wii.
I didn't even know what the game was when I went to the game store.
I was testing out different games at the game store (yes it was one of those cool game stores where they let you play any of the used games to try them out.) and the guy the ran the place recommend I try and was certain I would like it. I played it a little at the gamestore and enjoyed it, so I bought it.
Little did I know how amazing the game really was until I started finding secrets and new weapons and items everywhere. The game has very good control and setup. The graphics were what I expected from the super nintendo. I absolutely loved the sound in the game. People underestimate the power of sound. I am not talking about quality of sound either. Its how well the sound represents what is going on, how it makes you feel when you at a certain stage of the game.
What really got me was how fun and rewarding the gameplay was.
Vampire: Bloodlines is my definite favorite. I have a strong feeling that it's going to be beaten within the next 5 months however.
I wonder how many times this threads been done in the history of gamespot. *shrugs* O well, I don't think it matters.
Resident Evil 4. When you can play a games single player over fifteen times and still have an interesting, fun, and rewarding experience the next time you play is truly a great achievement.
Though I think I'm slowly becomming a fan of the Final Fantasy series. I just love the epic sense of exploration.
