When you look at your screen you are always seeing pixels. If you don't like pixels then you must like to look at a blank screen. It sounds like you don't like "pixelation" which is a sort of term that has been coined for graphical ugliness at short range.CheeChee_Macko
yes.
Being stuck early in the game on something stupid that the devs should have explained better. Like in the beginning of Jak 3, when you're learning your moves on the platform things, and with one of the ways you jump, there is this weird green symbol incorporated? Wtf?? This early on and I have to figure out a stupid mystery about a symbol in order to know what button I need to press so I can do a super jump? This is ridiculous. Btw, if anyone knows what this symbol is, please let me know.
Consoles turning into unreliable PC's.
Too much emphasis on multi-player/online gameplay.
Donkey Kong not being in very good games.
Mario's stupid voice.
Final Fantasy.
One of my countless pet peeves of gaming is when non-stop enemies come out of nowhere and relentlessly attack for example, GTA: SA at the six star wanted level. **** those cops are annoying. :x
Multiplayer who wants to play with other people anyway its just a fad. And all those people with voice chat i don't thin kthe anoyying people on them are those twelve year olds i think they are just morons, racist or homophobes.
also quite alot of games are starting to repeat themselves becuase we seeem to keep seeing and that them same thing not just on dev making a sequal to something. I mean everyone seems to making simular games to everyone ei know they are just making whats selling but they could try something new.
How come the pc seems to be slowing down not dead but just slowing down in devs its as if the pc isn't a gaming platform like the iphone or the wii sorry about that but its libaray isn't helping it much in that hate.
Being stuck in a game and knowing that the solution is simple or that no-one else had the same problem because you just don't think of the solution even though it is right infront of you.
Never having enough time to truly play a game and get really into it. Everyday life always interferes. Games can be really complicated these days with complex storylines that you need alot of free time to enjoy. I wish quick play games were more interesting. Either that or they have really crap save systems so you don't know when you will be able to next save.
Not finishing games that you really enjoy because you lose interest because they get boring at the en d.
In terms of playing, bad camera angles
In terms of developers/publishers- EA having total rule over sports games
In terms of people, people who say anything older than current generation is crap.
people who won't play anything if it isn't a shooter or sports game. (btw, I hate both generes)
My biggest pet peeve, Kids whose first console was the gamecube. They also own a GBA. They own 2 games, Pokemon and Mario Party. They get all mad at me when I don't know something about pokemon and they say they are more of a hardcore nintendo fan than me.
Another pet peeve, the fanboys constantly bash other peoples consoles. I think all the new consoles have major issues. I think fanboys all argued but also had respect for others consoles before the last generation. My favorite 2 times were Gen vs SNES and PSX vs N64 vs DC.
fetch quests. Having to find items to "open up" a new area annoys me a lot. If not for the ***SPOILERS*** Chozo artifact fetch quest and the energy cell fetch quest at the end of Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime Corruption I would have enjoyed them a lot more.
The constant desire to make sequels. I would rather original games be made than the same game with some new features.
It's minor details that bothers me. Like in CS whenever you pull out a gun it will do the same animation (nothing wrong with that) but when most of them are of arming the gun, it gets a little bit weird ... I mean even tho you're switching it back and forth ten times it will still be cocked. I mean geez how many time do you have to do it, there's already a bullet in the chamber so why arm it again, you're just throwing away good ammunitions? It just look dumb ... maybe except for the M3 shotgun, the pump-action does look statisfying.
One thing that really pisses me is a recuring problem commun to almost every, if not, all FPS. And it probably happened to you more than once. Cancelling the reload animation (which has to restart from the beginning each time you cancel it) ... is it that hard to resume where you stop reloading? I mean, they could simply divise it into three Steps. Step one; Ok you removed your empty clip, it's done (it doesn't have to magically reappear out of tin air in your gun once you switch back & forth). Step two; Secured your new clip into your gun, done (if you switch before the clip is secured well you'd have to start over but from the second step). Step three; you just have to arm it & fire away. I don't know what it'll take for developer to look into that little problem.
And one last thing that annoys me this time in BattleField 2 & 2142 (there's so many to choose from), are the grenades. Let's say you throw a grenade, you removed the pin & just when it's about to leave your hand you're killed. Well though luck 'cause it won't do a thing ... it's like you never had it to begin with. I mean I always thought that when you removed the pin there's was no coming back, it was gonna explode. anyway that's all I could think up for the moment.

yes.
Actually, there's 2 different types. There's pixelation, and there's texelation. Pixelation is when objects on the screen start sharing screen space on the same pixel and it looks like pixels are swimming around in the background. Texelation is in the textures of the objects. N64 and PS1 had to have rediculously small texture maps, probably 32x32 and at most 256x256. So what you're seeing is actually due to the size of the texture maps. I personally don't mind it, believe it or not, those N64 and PS1 textures used to look amazing when those games released.
Sorry, I do this stuff for a living, couldn't help myself.
my pet peeves are pixels. i absolutely HATE when you can see pixels.
that probably sounds silly, but i hate when you are close to a wall or looking at the ground or something, and you can see little pixel blocks all over the place. it bugs the crap out of me. especially from older N64 or PS1/PS2 games.
I've been playing Cod4 lately and it bugs the crap out of me how you can see pixels in the wall or on the cars, espsecially since it's considered "next-gen" graphics. i really dont understand how people say these are the best graphics they've ever seen.
aside from pixels, I also hate how when you are looking at a tree, it looks good from afar. but walking up close to it, the leaves are FLAT like paper. what the hell? i HATE that the most. paper leaves and paper grass.
Crawling on the ground on Cod4, you can see the grass infront of you and its paper thin & pixely
blah. thats just my opinion, please dont flame me.
what are YOUR gaming pet peeves? graphics, gameplay, characters, etc etcsummer_star17x
One more thing. They don't have the geometry expense to waste modeling every leaf and every blade of grass. That won't be for at least another couple gens. You'll just have to live with it.
Heh I played an mmorpg called Asheron;s Call for 5+ years that had low rez graphics and had exactly the type of graphics you are talking about Summer. I didnt mind though =). Lets see...some pet peeves.... well I hate it when games dont let you customize the controller because devs suck at controller layouts. I hate when every other game flips the controls for the camera around. On one game left is left on the next left is right. Makes it like freaking impossable to get used to one of them lol. Hmmmm....well those are the only one that instantly come to mind. Anything else I come up with would just be to nit picky and game specific lol.
collecting items that usually consist of at least 50 or 100. Cheap AI kills, meaning when you are hiding in a big area and you are completely covered the AI enemies know right where to find you. Little kids just being annoying on-line. The Wii have a lackluster game library. Down-loadable content that should have been included in the game from the start. People trying to convince others that one system sucks while their system is the best ever. Too many FPS on the market that are not even worth playing. People who make a huge deal about gamer points, because in the end I don't really give a **** if you found all the flags in Assassin's Creed.

i hate that in some FPS shooters. when you tilt the stick up, you look down. some games, you tilt it up, you look up.
it gets confusing when you switch from one game that has it to one that doesnt. sometimes they give you the option to change it to inverted or not.
i personally like when you tilt up, you look up.
* when the love story is a major part the story
* can't save anytime anywhere (of course except during battles)
* JRPG - only one way to level up...kill enemies
* side quests that just makes the game longer...in other words...side quests were you obtain nothing when you complete it.
* better graphics on cutscenes
* no subtitles when characters talk (with audio)
* each and every coversation outside a cutscene are just text
Along with everything else thats been said, I also can not stand it when a game is under-rated or over-rated *coughHalocough*.
Little 8 year olds screaming into the microphone when they are playing an online game they shouldnt be playing.mn_vikings
i totally agree. Its got bad enough where i dont wear the headset playing alot of games and i avoid games like Halo3 usually. I was playing Shadowrun online and this one kid kept asking "how do i get the wings???" but really he was just too stupid to do the tutorial and then figure it out. I even tried to explain it, but it was like talking to a brick wall.
oh and i hate people that play 1 game WAY too much. Consoles have a disc tray that OPENS for a reason, so you can take the game out and put in a different game now and again. I dont get how you can just play Halo3 or Cod4 EVERY day. Doesn't it get old after a few days in a row?
1. Anytime the AI cheats.
2. "Majora's Mask is underrated," "Everyone hates Majora's Mask," "You can't find ANYONE around here who likes Majora's Mask," or any similar comment.
3. Anyone judging strategy games solely by their balance.
4. Unskippable cutscenes.
5. Trading sidequests that use 10+ items *cough*Zelda*cough*.
6. "Graphics don't matter."
7. Long loading times.
8. Silent protagonists.
9. Having a LLLLLLLOOONNNNNGGGGGGG time between save points.
10. Backstabbing in online play. Especially when the other players think it's funny for some very weird reason.
11. LOTS of text in cutscenes.
12. Very strong multiplayer, very weak singleplayer.
13. Nintendo-owned franchises being out for Nintendo platforms ONLY.
- When your character can't perform an action that you could easily pull off in real life. "Oh no, we can't climb over that tiny stone wall we need to backtrack and find a bomb so we can blow it up!" Ugh...
- Escort missions where the AI character seems to have a death wish, and will happily run into a pack of angry werewolves or a barrage of enemy fire. I'm looking at you, Far Cry...
- Online gamers who play music in the background.
Little kids screaming in the mic and being a tough guy online.
when you invite friends over and they eat something and don't wash their hands and use your controllers making them greasy. God i hate that.
Horrible camera angles on platforming games.

Hahaha, that's a good one. I also hate games when someone dies and their body disappears. I have yet to see that in real life (I guess it could happen as I haven't seen anyone die in real life either...).
