Your Most Disappointing Gaming Purchase or Gift

We all got them and it's time to share them.

For me it would have to be Resident Evil Dead Aim for PS2. Not only did I pay full price for this awful game, but I spent an extra $50 to by a lightgun to play it. $120 later and a very disappointing afternoon of annoying characters, confusing gameplay, and crappy story progression I went back to the same gamestore that I bought it and recouped only about $18 from my original purchase (kept the light gun).

Mortal Kombat vs DC. Hands down the most disappointing game I have bought in a long time. It started out good, but then it just sucked. I played through the game once and haven't played it again since. And just to think I actually pre-ordered it and picked it up the day it was released because I figured "Wow! I am a huge MK fan, and DC blows Marvel away! This is gonna rock!"....

Odama was a good concept but the execution could have been a lot better.

Rogue Squadron 3: Rebel Strike had great co op and multiplayer but the single player was mediocre compared to Rogue Leader. The on foot missions were dull.

Nights: Journey of Dreams for the Wii. the game is ok but it's nothing compared to the first one on the Saturn.

The playstation games I got alongside FFVII. Crash Bandicoot 1 and 2, Croc, and this horrible game called Wreckin Crew.

I refused to open them. I wanted the system for rpg's and they wasted $80 (yes they paid $20 a game) on games I told them I would never play.

I got money after that.

Oh I forgot to mention Final Fantasy VIII. I bought that expecting an awesome game but I was serverly disappointed with it.

My most disappointing video game gift would have to be Ultima: Exodus for the NES.

My most disappointing video game purchase is without a doubt The Conduit for the Wii.

Garry's Mod, even though it was only $10.

Beyond Good & Evil. Great presentation, but the game itself was is the definition of mediocre. It tops my list for this thread because of how much hype it received, which led me to believe it would at least be somewhat memorable.

Recently Tekken 6 and Borderlands, of all time Rascal (PSX), Bugsy 3D (PSX), GunGrave (PS2), the last two SaGa games on the PS2.

But the worst game I've gotten as a gift has to be Lair, from my sister (Lol, she had no idea). And the worst I've bought has to be X-Blades, at least it was only $15 brand new.

While not absolutely terrible, they probably ended up being the most disappointing games I bought ore receieved.

Saga Frontier, I thought this game would be up to the standards at the time set by FFVII, FFVI, and Tactics. Boy was I wrong with this games convoluted mess of gameplay and story line. Yea the concpet is cool, play as various cahracter but the gameplay was broken and the battles were just bland as heck. Glad I sold that crap years ago....

Manhunt, so overrated...

COD 6 MW2 , I expected to have a whole new game to blow me away like COD 4 did but it turns out that COD 6 is COD 4 with better graphics that is all.

Tony Hawk's Proving Ground. It just plain sucked. Now I know why it was only $5 when I bought it :P

Bugsy 3D is the most terriblest game I've ever played, it just made me feel quesy and wasn't fun at all.

More recently, I'd say Shaun White's Snowboarding, I got it for Christmas in 2008 and I was really looking forward to playing it as I loved the SSX games on the Playstation. Unfortunately it was just rubbish, as you'll know if you've played it.

I was dissapointed in FFXII at first but replaying it now I actually enjoy it. On to the actual topic I was upset on how the remake of KH Chain of Memories on PS2 was, sure its fun but its also confusing compared to the GBA version.

Final Fantasy XII

I guess that would be the $8,44 I spent on Largo Winch .// Commando SAR. Even though it might seem like nothing, I still feel like I was ripped off.

Fallout Brotherhood of Steel, Now Im a Fallout fan. But this game was awful. Not a good Fallout game, or even a good game in general. I paid $30 for this turd of a game. Im still pissed. Yet I see its highly expensive online. I was going to buy another copy and said "gee it should be like $4 now used" But nooo. Its like $15 last I checked and I refuse to pay that much.

Mercenaries 2 for the ps2. Yes I know, I know please stop the laughter. I thought I would get a decent ps2 game. Boy was I a real dumb a**. LOL The game was horrible. It was like the developer (not pandemic) had just copy and pasted mercs 1 with some mercs 2 references. The graphics looked like crap, the gameplay was **** and buggy as hell. Its a puke pile of a game. It was obvious they just did that to capitalize off people who wanted mercs 2 with out the ps3 or 360 price. I vowed never to buy another pandemic game new again, and used only if I really wanted it. I even spammed up the pandemic merc 2 forums. But I heard someshere that pandemic went out of business or was shut down. So Im happy, they deserved it.

Hitman 2:Silent Assassin;I finished it and everything but no,I never liked that game.

Sonic Heroes. While it's not the worst game I own, it was promising enough that I kept playing it in the hopes that it would get better, but it only got worse and worse. As a result, it's the game with the highest badness (higher badness = worse game) x time spent value.

My mom picked up "Wii Music" a couple Christmases ago because "it looked fun". I felt bad, but I had to tell her it sucked so she wouldn't make impulse gaming purchases in the future. Leave the choosing to the gamer ;)

Final Fantasy VIII. It's easily the worst in the series for me; I like Mystic Quest more.

I got Personal Trainer: cooking(DS) and Flash Focus(DS) from my ex-girlfriend last Christmas. The only good thing about those two were that I registered them with Club Nintendo and got 60 coins.

Two purchases that have always stuck in my craw are Yusha: Heaven's Gate and Zero Divide, both for the PlayStation. Pre-owned and on the cheap they may have been, but frankly Electronics Boutique should have been paying me to take them off their hands.
