Capcom is one of the best game developers, EVER! They rate right up there with the first-party games like Mario and Halo. It's hard to narrow it down to just 5, but here it is:

1. Bionic Commando (NES) - IMO, Capcom's crown jewel for the NES. They blended platforming, action, and shooter together into a 2D masterpice. The NES version is the only good version, though, the ones released on arcade and TG-16 is a completely different game and not nearly as good.
2. Resident Evil 2 (PS1/N64)- My personal favorite entry in the series. All the RE games were masterpieces, and the first few were revolutionary.
3. Mega Man (NES/SNES)- Pick any of the main series or the main Mega Man X series. They are all great platformer/shooter 2d games. A basic formula that's still loads of fun today. My personal favorites were Mega Man 2, Mega Man 5, Mega Man 6,& Mega Man X
4. Marvel vs. Capcom (PS1 & Dreamcast)- My favorite of the many, many 2d, Street Fighter-style fighting games from Capcom. It's great to play as Ryu, Mega Man, Wolverine, or Spider-Man in this flashy arcade hit.
5. Marvel Super-Heroes: War of the Gems(SNES) - A great beat-em up title, with very impressive graphics for the SNES, that implemented street fighter-type special moves into the game. You chose from various Marvel Comics super-heroes and went to various famous locations from the Marvel Universe in a very story-driven beat-em up. Mostly overlooked due to it being released after PS1 had launched.

Honorable mentions: Ducktales (NES),X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse(SNES), Super Street Fighter II (SNES/Genesis), Dino Crisis (PS1/Dreamcast).
