What's your top 5?
All time: Aria of Sorrow 2. Harmony of Despair(too much awesome in one game, plus they redrew Julius's dreadful running animation from DofS) 3. Dawn of Sorrow 4. Symphony of the Night 5. Circle of the Moon Hopefully Mirror of Fate will be good enough to bump C of the M off this list. El_Zo1212o
The GBA ones are all better than Symphony of the Night.
But that's just me.
1. Circle of the Moon
2. Symphony of the Night
3. Dawn of Sorrow
4. Portrait of Ruin
5. Aria of Sorrow
I never played the pre SotN games when they were new and to me they just feel really outdated by today's standards so those are my favs.

I think the case can def be made for Circle of the Moon and Aria of Sorrow. But for Harmony of Dissonance? I thought that was easily the worst SotN style Castlevania to date. I wanted to like it, but it just felt really uninspired to me compared to the others.

Just so that people understand, when I said HOD, I didn't mean Dissonance at all, but Despair, which is a lot of fun to play with friends on XBox Live. It was fun going through all the stages and finding the best loot possible. :)

I didn't dislike Harmony, but it just wasn't there somehow. The story was pretty good, but(as shallow as I'm sure this sounds) the graphics where really blocky and unattractive, even compared to it's predecessor. The magic system was a nice touch, but it couldn't save the experience for me. Harmony is still the only 2D Castlevania since Symphony that I've only beaten once.Just so that people understand, when I said HOD, I didn't mean Dissonance at all, but Despair, which is a lot of fun to play with friends on XBox Live. I got it. I was just interested in hearing what El_Zo1212o's thought of Harmony of Dissonance. No need to worry.

It's not a bad game, but it def didn't live up to my expectations for the series.

Hey! I'm not gonna take that kinda jibbah jabbah from you, you bleeping bleep-faced sonofableep!1. Lords of Shadow (was totally blown away by this game, never in a million years expected it to become my favorite)
2. Castlevania (NES)
3. Bloodlines
4. Symphony of the Night
5. Order of Ecclesia
@users that said Harmony of Dissonace wasn't as good as CotM.
I feel the opposite,i liked it better than CotM.
I think Circle of the Moon holds it's place with me because it was just so damn nice to see Castlevania back after so long. And the combination magic system was new and interesting.@users that said Harmony of Dissonace wasn't as good as CotM.

Order of Ecclesia slowly but surely over took Symphony of the Night as my favorite. I liked Shanoa as a character, and I enjoyed that they took it out of the Castle and made it into an adventure and how Shanoa ended up there to defeat Dracula. Just sat really well with me. But more so, Hard Mode was a lot of fun. It was fun to overcome and getting past an area based solely on skill was welcome, as the franchise is normally pretty damn easy.
After that, it would go Symphony of the Night, Super Castlevania IV, Dawn of Sorrow, and Lords of Shadow.
1. Order of Ecclesia 2. Symphony of the Night 3. Rondo of Blood 4. Aria of Sorrow 5. Portrait of Ruin Why they felt a need to reboot the storyline and throw out the entire canon is beyond me. It's why I have no real interest in playing the Lords of Shadow games.MAILER_DAEMON
they didn't.
The old timeline still counts.
I guess it takes place inj a different universe

The point of a reboot is to cast out anything that came before and start fresh. I'm also extremely upset that they did so, but my hope is that now that their Lords trilogy is complete(as of Lords 2, anyway), Konami will hand the series back to Iga, ho will basically say, 'well that was nice,' and get back to the real timeline. I still want to see Julius get his game set in 1999.1. Castlevania: SotN
2. Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
3. Super Castlevania IV
4. Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles
5. Castlevania: Lament of Innocence
With #1 being the best:
Castlevania went downhill after Dracula X. I don't care for Metroidvania. I thought the linear level design was a lot more fun in Casltevania. That's a game series that did linearity right. The only Castlevania games worth playing are the ones on the NES and SNES.
