so with this season were going into, i think it would nice to see a thread, not about one game but the top five games you are looking forward to.

please no fanboys stuff about systems. just talk about the games.

heres mine, in no certain order

1. GTA4 -- i'll be honest this is prolly my number one bigtime game i am really looking forward to. the idea of going back and scaling down to a single large sity, to focus on reality based physics and A.I, and detail.....really sits well with me. i like how theyve handled the main character. lotsa ex-soldier turned mafioso comin outta that region of the world. the graphics have really blown me away so far....and the fact they will only improve as release closes is awesome. it does suck that planes are out, but i understand the reasoning. wanna see some more info on music, cast, characters....etc.

2. asassins creed --the gameplay in the ubidays trailor really got me jonsin! the graphics look great so far...and the story looks really cool.

3.splinter cell conviction -- there still isnt a ton of info as of yet, but if this is the bourne supremacy simulator i think it is....man i cant wait. and once again a game where the realistic physics seem to be as important as the graphics!

4. Killzone2 -- i really enjoyed the dark scifi feel of the first one. plus i am just really waiting to see what the graphics look like. this one is high on my list

5. Ratchet & clank future tools of destruction -- do i need to say it? this game looks huge!!!

1. Bioware's Dragon Age - Spiritual Successor to Baldur's Gate....nuff said. The GFW feature from last November makes this seem like Bioware's most ambitious game to date, I also really like the fact that the game totally changes from the type of race you play as....from your party members, to how people react to you, to even your main nemesis.

2. Spore - What happens when you take Pac Man, Civilization, The Sims, Homeworld and roll them all into one while allowing usermade content to be added seamlessly to the gamegalaxy....then put Will Wright behind it all, you get Spore, probably the most ambitious Sim / Strategy / Puzzle game created...well..ever. If Spore manages to deliver on its promises it will greatly expand on how content from an online community can seemlessly expand and enhance a single player experience.... it'll be beyond what any other game has done in how expansive and limitless it can be, in addition to how a community can enhance every single person's copy out there.

3. Bioshock - Spiritual Successor to System Shock 2....that alone makes this a must buy for me. Add in the fact that it's made by Irrational games, probably my favorite developer in the business. We haven't had a truly excellent FPS / RPG hybrid since the original Deus Ex back in 2000, and the genre is desperately in need of something that involves more then just shooting things and elevates the genre....if anyone can deliver a great game along those lines, it's Irrational Games.

4. Grand Theft Auto IV - Going back to its roots, I'm especially glad its coming back to Liberty City. With the game focusing on one city and really attempting to make it as detailed as possible, should be a great game.

5. Crysis - I really enjoyed Far Cry, and given that was Crytek's debut title, it should be interesting to see what they can craft with a bigger budget, bigger staff, and experience under their belt....so far its the most promising looking Single Player FPS coming out imo, and definitely the best looking game and game engine. Crysis should take large scale interactive environments to a whole new level. In addition, the open-ended nature of the game, branching choices, character ability upgrades, and ability literally customize every weapon in the game should add features that make it stand out as being unique in a very crowded genre.

Honorable Mentions - Team Fortress 2, Portal, Half Life 2: Episode Two, Super Mario Galaxy, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune

Well mine in order are:

1. Halo 3 - I absolutely loved the first two games so this one is a natural for me. I'm looking forward to seeing how many aspects of the story unfold in this game. I got tons of playtime out of the online multiplayer in Halo 2 so this is another part of H3 that I'm very much looking forward to playing.

2. Mass Effect - I'm a big fan of Bioware to begin with so that definately gives this game big points for me. Having a sprawling sci-fi adventure across multiple planets is quite awesome to say the least. I really like how the dialog interaction is implemented in this game. It's also looking very good graphically as well.

3. Starcraft II - Loved the first one and put countless of hours into it plus I'm a huge fan of Blizzard. I definately liked what I've seen on the game so far.

4. Metal Gear Solid 4 - I've been enjoying this series since day one and Kojima's storytelling has me hooked, I can't wait to see how things turn out for good ol' Snake in this one.

5. Tie between Crysis and Spore - Crysis is looking phenomenol and I really love my FPS games so this one is definately one I want to get. Spore just sounds so ambitious and I really hope Will pulls it off.

Tough to limit it to just five and some of these are further off than others but here goes:

1. Starcraft II: The long-awaited sequel to my second-fave game ever has to be tops on the list. :)  My only reservation is this game has so much to live up to; the expectations will range from huge to unreasonable and chances are it won't live up to the original, but if it manages to get in the same neighborhood I'll be happy.

2. Grand Theft Auto IV: I was a fan of GTAIII but was one of the few disappointed in Vice City as to me it felt more like an expansion pack than a sequel. But then San Andreas came along and blew me away, becoming one of my all-time faves, so I'm very much looking forward to seeing what's next.

3. Super Smash Bros. Brawl: I haven't quite warmed up to the Wii yet but Melee was a blast so I can't wait for this one.

4. Super Mario Galaxy: The videos of this game look amazing.

5. Bioshock: System Shock II is a legendary title so Bioshock has big shoes to fill but I have a feeling it's going to deliver in a big way.

Others: Mass Effect & Dragon Age (Bioware FTW, looking forward to their unnamed MMO too); Metroid Prime 3 (I didn't care for Prime 2 but liked the original enough to make this a first-day purchase); Spore (Sounds so interesting); Halo 3; Blue Dragon & Lost Oddessy; Crysis; FFXIII (hopefully improves on FF12); I could go on but I'll stop there

Well a bunch of people already listed most of my top 5...

1. GTA IV, 2. Bioshock, 3.. Mass Effect

4. Mercenaries 2: The pictures and videos look great so far. Bring everything that made the 1st one so fun plus toss in co-op and i don't see how this game can't be amazing... really looking forward to playing in a mock version of Venezuela Rain Forest causing all sorts of havok.

5: Omikron 2: The first one dealt with a hero being sucked into a virtual world and when the hero died... his spirit passed into the first person to touch him thereby continuing the game... of course the original really didn't have the technology to pull it off, i'm sure the PS3 will work out fine

In no particular order:

1. StarCraft II: I played my fair share of the first one, and I eagerly anticipate a title that I don't expect to revolutionize how RTS games are played, but instead to perform really good in the critical features of the genre.

2. GTA4: It will be the first time I get caught amidst the hype surrounding the monster, and although little has been shown of it, it has been enough to show what happens when Rockstar flexes the muscle of its flagship franchise.

3. Halo 3: If it manages to deliver a proper SP campaign while improving on the multiplayer experience offered by its predecessor, it could close the series with a really loud bang.

4. Forza 2: It will have to perform outstandingly on every feature in order to challenge GT for the throne of racing simulators, and after spending some time with the demo, it really has a shot at it.

5. Mass Effect: Dynamic dialogue, character classes, morality affecting not just the outcome, but how the game develops as well. It will have the challenging task of not getting buried between the high profile titles scheduled by the second half of this year.

1) Starcraft 2: Sequal to my all time favorite computer game. It just looks amazing, and I have been looking forward to this for a long time.

2) Fallout 3: Bethesda making a first person version of this great series? Yeah, I'm excited.

3) Hellgate- London: Loved Diablo, and this being the spiritual successor looks great.

4) Bioshock: Not usually into this type of game, but this one looks worth playing.

5) All-Pro Football 2k8: I know it won't have the current NFL players, but 2k5 was the best football game ever made, and if 2K can incorporate even half the features they want in this game, it will be something to behold.

1. Metal Gear Solid 4:- Own the first 3 games, love them all. Excellent gameplay, even better story. Very keen to see how it all ends.

2. Bioshock:- Spiritual successor to the System Shock series. Yes please.

3. No More Heroes:- Made by the same guy behind killer7, should have a brilliant story, and looks like it'll contain elements of  a DMC-like fighting system.

4. Devil May Cry 4:- DMC3 is one of my favourite games, and it looks like this game won't repeat the disappointment that was DMC2.

5. Next-gen Shin Megami Tensei:- The Megaten series are among the best role-playing games I've played, with in-depth party customisation, intriguing stories (that DON'T involve typical 'save-the-world' fare, excessive drama or overly effeminate teenage characters) with few truly 'right'/moral choices if any, excellent graphical designs and soundtracks that focus more on gritty, moody atmospherical themes and techno/rock/metal than typical orchestral compositions, and gameplay that doesn't pull punches. If only Atlus would give us some information about the next main game already.

It was a real pain to narrow it down to just those 5, but those are the ones I want the most.

In no particular order

All Pro Football 2K8- finally another good football game

Winning Eleven...11 :P- these games have been great, but I really should stop getting the yearly editions.

Indiana Jones 2k7- I loved Emperor's Tomb (even though it was panned by reviewers), and given Euphoria and DMM, I'm excited to see what comes of it.

Little Big Planet- probably going to be the biggest step forward we've seen in a while for games.

Team Ico game- whatever it is, I'm sure it'll be great.

StarCraft II - The early video looks fantastic. Toss in rebalancing, new toys, and epic battles and we've got ourselves a winner. Hopefully we'll see it before 2009. I'll update my GPU for this one for sure.

Metroid Prime 3 - This game could make or break the Wii for FPS action games. If Ninty can pull off a fluid control scheme, with precision mirroring PC gaming then I think Ninty's rep as a FPS machine will skyrocket.

Guitar Hero III - Cannot wait! Nuff said.

Grad Turismo 4 - I will buy a PS3 and seriously consider a 50in 1080p HDTV when this game finally arrives.

Super Mario Galaxy - This game looks like it could reinvigorate the stalled 3-D Mario franchise--the original 3-D killer app. I really hope Nintendo can deliver the goods on a fully immersive insanely fun world brimming with whimsy and surprise.

1. Soul Calibur 4 - Old habits die hard.

2. Bioshock - If it's anything like System SHock 2, this will be a must.

3. Mass Effect - Need a new console RPG, like now.

4. Uncharted - This could be Tomb Raider meets God of War.

5. Ratchet & Clank Future - My favourite platform shooter returns.

Top 5 (Not in any particular order, hell it was hard enough to pick 5 let alone order them!)

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Bioshock

Half-Life 2: Episode Two (I think I may be more excited about Team Fortress 2 than the added story bits)

StarCraft II

Assassin's Creed

Highly notable mentions: Mass Effect, Super Mario Galaxy, Spore, Crysis, Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, Resident Evil 5, Alliance: The Silent War, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Army of Two, Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, Too Human

1. Devil May Cry 4 - Really liked the original and part three, even though I do have part 2. -_-

2. Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns Of The Patriots - Played alittle bit of the original but never finished it. Played parts two and three to death. Can't wait.

3. Resident Evil 5 - Loved part four. I feel that the sequel will surpass what RE4 did, who knows? But im alittle upset that hardly any information on the game has been distributed.

4. Assasins Creed - Im liking what im seeing of this game. And the fact that it's going to have stealth elements is what im talking about!!

5. Splinter Cell Conviction - What can I say? I love Sam Fisher.....but not like that, lol.

Nothing else coming this year, or in the near future, that I'm looking forward to. All of these should kick incredible amounts of ass, though.

Alaris83's Top 5 Most Anticipated Games:

5. Half-Life 2: The Black Box - Episode 2, Team Fortress 2, and Portal. Who's not excited about this?

4. Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures - Possibly the last, best hope for the MMORPG genre.

3. Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Spent an insane amount of hours on SSBM, and with the promise of online multiplay, will undoubtedly spend even more.

2. Bioshock - The most promising looking FPS to come out since Half-Life 2.

1. Mass Effect - Purchased an Xbox360 with the sole intention of playing this.
