UPDATE 3/17 at 3:25pm PT - Check the participation emblem and the trivia session added a few minutes ago. You can participate in both! It's a green emblem because it's St Patty's day! :)
March 17th starting at 5pm PT, ending around 7pm PT.
Thanks for voting for the best times and days of the week you are likely to participate in GameSpot's Game Nights. At this time I plan to keep a consistent Wednesday night game night for the month of March. If you continue to vote in that voting thread I might change April's schedule to meet your the popular vote time or day!
1. How do I get in on the action?
This action is for free! Just about anyone with a PC game machine should have access to play in this game night. First thing to do is make sure you have QuakeLive installed via your internet browser.
- Quake Live [Information about system requirements]
It is important to join the chat room http://www.gamespot.com/chat/chat.php?room=GameSpot_Tournament so we can all communicate with each other. If you cannot remain in chat, exit and return once you want to play another match. We'll open the chatroom from a half hour to an hour of the day we host the game night.
2. I am from another country and timezone other than California time (Pacific Time). What time is that for me?
We might have tons of lag playing with each other, but why not see how bad it is?Go to this url http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/tzc.tzc to see what time it is in your country. If you want to be extra tech savvy and you use Firefox, download the foxclocks application to monitor your timezone versus other timezones.
3. What mode will we be playing?
We're pretty easy going about what we'll be playing so why not dabble in a variety of them. I have to say though, FFA is the most fun.
4. Why this game? Why not another one?
Since this game night did not offer a fore-warning (2 weeks prior is best) we decided that everyone could download this game client for free.
5. Can I drop by a little late to participate in game night?
Of course! Why not? Just make sure you join the chatroom so we know that you exist. You are also welcome to add caligirl as a friend and jump in the servers I am on.
6. What GameSpot folks will I be playing with?
Just me so far. The Editorial staff are super swamped with hot titles in the month of March. I highly doubt they have time to play in game nights but I always tell them the latest one we'll be hosting in case they are interested in dropping by to play in a few matches.
7. What's this week's bounty requirement?
The non-scientific method: the player GameSpot staff feels kicks everyone's butt!
8. I am totally the best, and you know it. What if you give the emblem to some other dude, even if I know I am better?
It's the staff call on who becomes the MVP for the week.
9. So, do I have a good chance of kicking GameSpot butt?
Of course you do! There has got to be a game that we stink at.
10. Do I get an emblem for playing?
The only emblem goes to the bounty winner(s), which are listed on the game night feature page as MVP. It's next to impossible for staff to keep up with who enters the game or server and who doesn't. Besides, isn't gloating over GameSpot Staff a great reward?
11. Where should I report my game night experience?
The game has a way to record the matches, take screenshots and post your reactions to came night in this board. Someone may use the information and post it in the game night report hread that will be created after game night is over.
