Why do you enjoy single player story games?

So I'm not asking this incredulously like "HOW COULD YOU EVER LIKE SINGLE PLAYER GAMES??" I'm genuinely interested in what you like about single player games. Lately I've been having a hard time enjoying myself in breath of the wild and after doing some introspective thinking I've found myself not really enjoying the game and feeling overwhelmed by the sheer amount of things to do. This seems to be a common thing with me and it's disappointing because I feel like I'm missing out on a lot of really good games, I end up just playing some multiplayer games instead because I enjoy the competition. Have any of you felt the same way or had problems like this before? I'd love to hear all of your advice.
