I don't need to lose any weight, I need to gain. I'm about 5'6" and around 130 lbs. I wouldn't say it's bad, but I need to build muscle for Soccer and Track, and I can't really do that with the little fat I have. Does anyone know of any effective diets/work outs I could/should be doing?

I should do the same (put on muscle). All I can think of is lifting a box of tiles lying in my room and maybe some crunches and push ups every day :| I know, I'm no help :(

BlackBond Interesting Fact #1 and #1

  1. BlackBond cannot weigh more then 180lbs and cannot weight less then 170 lbs. Eating or lifting cannot change this no matter how much I eat or lift. My metabolism is freakish which all the women are envious of.
  2. BlackBond doesn't sweat. Yes you heard me I do not sweat. Four hours of basketball and there is only one dry shirt on the court and that's mine

My friends think I'm some sort of alien lol. 100 Push ups and situps every morning and every night after my 1 hour road work. That's the key to BlackBond being a tall, thin, toned, rock baby 8)

But yeah seriously I lack bulk lol

Calisthenics are great. They build muscle, and once you have muscle it starts burning fat for you.

Workout your legs. Leg weights and lots of Rocky style running will do the trick!

My metabolism is really weird too. My family own a restaurant, and all I usually eat is Pizza and Grinders, yet I barely gain any weight :(

If you want to build the muscle, you must have the fat first. The easiest way to get fat is the calorie counting method. Use this to roughly calculate what your dietary requirements are per day, then exceed those requirements by eating, eating and more eating. And don't just think "ooh, fatty foods! That'll help me get fatter!" No. You need to meet all your requirements: that means protein, fat, carbs etc. You need to just keep eating until you are a suitable weight, and then you can begin a muscle building regime.

I stay between 150 and 160. Always.

6'1.5"

I don't gain more, nor lose more than that.

This is the site/mag I've used (and still use) for my workouts: http://au.blogs.yahoo.com/mens-health/category/fitness/

It has plenty of excellent workouts for every muscle basically. Where are you trying to build more muscle btw? Biceps/Triceps? If it's that make sure that you do back/waist workouts too to avoid any injuries (also because bicep workouts usually align with back workouts).

I've tried most of the workouts and the only one that didn't work for me was the wrist extension. I had to try a couple of other methods to fix up my (really) thin wrists.

Don't start with heavy weights! Start with like 5kg (I started with 10kg three years back and nearly broke my arm).

You'll look like this in no time!

You'll be surprised at how quick you'll notice improvements.

Consistency is the key (Don't give up)! Anyway, if you need any help just ask!

Oh yeah and I forgot to mention....food wise:

Go for eggs and plenty of tuna. Both are extremely high in protein. The site I linked to has a lot of good recipes, check them out.

I agree. Go high on proteins and you'll definitely notice a difference.

To gain weight, simplest way is to gain muscle, as muscle weighs a lot.

Eat lots of lower-fat proteins (meal bars if you like them, chicken, dairy products, etc) and lift weights. You are limited in what you can do with your body by genetics, so don't push too hard. If you stay on a regiment for a month or so, and you just tone up and don't put on lots of muscle, your body type might not be the kind you can put lots of muscle on. Don't give up! You can get toned muscles, you'll feel better, and look better, but you might not be able to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Some people just don't have the body types to put on lots of muscle, but it never hurts being tone and fit. Just set realistic goals for your body type/size, and good luck!

Weight is a very funny aspect of life. I have chosen to ignore it and just do what makes me feel good instead.

I only really care because I do Soccer and Track for my school. I made both teams without having done almost any previous exercising or special dieting, but just because I made doesn't mean I did all that great. I just wanna be more then just mediocre, ya know?

Thanks for all the help guys! I'll probably start the diet sometime this week, after I've come up with a schedule for when everything is to be done.

Its easy. Just do what I did. Body build 2 hours every weekday, you will end up burning so many calories you don't even have to worry about what you eat. Infact I am about to go work out soon. But whatever you do, do it responsibly. Know your limitations and don't use any kind of steroids and stuff like that.
