Wow. Am I misreading something? Is he moving to a different area?

I don't know what to think of it either, Cake. On one hand, this guy was at the helm of creating the PlayStation brand we know and love. On the other, his infamous media spotlight over the past few years and general perspective on the games industry have been bitter and deluded.
The promises he couldn't keep and the annoyances of a disgruntled old businessman will unfortunately be more remembered than what he did for gaming, in my opinion. It feels as bad as when George Lucas sold out to CGI and started making all those crap Star Wars prequels..
The man's done a lot for gaming, and it's sad to see him go. I'll remember him.
For example, Einstein spent his final years trying to prove quantum physics wrong, and only racked up a bunch of useless work. I guess Kutaragi's situation is like that now: He had years of brilliance, then faded a bit. So sad.
I can't say i'm disapointed.
now mabey they will get some one who doesn't promise us completely unrealistic things like 4d gameplay

I really hope you did not take that comment he made literally. :| This man has done a lot for gaming, and the way we view electronics.

It was a marketing spin, that's all. A bizarre one, to be sure, but recall that he's from a different culture than us, and that his "live" dimension could mean pretty much anything, most likely better immersion.
I don't think it's something to judge him negatively for. A lot of geniuses think in oddball ways at times.
Somebody had to take the fall; with all his crazy talk and unfortunate decision-making, Mr Kutaragi made himself the obvious choice.
Hopefully, Mr Hirai will be able to present a better public face for Sony. He comes off as personable and authentic even when he's just stating the company line, and he can connect to both English- and Japanese-speaking audiences. Mr Harrison is both glib and threateningly tall, but his Japanese language skills are a question at this time.
He is still with the company in some capacity.
He is a senior technology advisor for the Corporation

That sounds very "honourary" to me.
The guy had vision, you can't deny that. It's upsetting that we won't see him around anymore.Teufelhuhn
I agree, despite anything done during PS3, the man still is a pioneer. He also changed his looks and he looks older now. I think it might be from doing something to his face to make it look younger.
I hope he does well in whatever job he does next. Hopefully they can fill someone who isn't a complete jerk to fill his position.
I vote Phil for new Chairman of SCE :Dfuzzysquash
Harrison? That is a disaster waiting to happen.
I think Kaz Hari can be Chairman of SCE, despite his whole Ridge Racer thing, he is a smart and wise man. He even admited he has a DS at home.
I can't say i'm disapointed.

lol, I'm gonna miss quotes like that though.
I'm pretty sure he once said "The PS3 will instill discipline into our children. Everyone will know discipline."
Damn, no more Krazy Ken!
