Yeah I was expecting the 3D component to be pretty fail....
also..
also..
how do you play games with gyroscope and 3D at the same time? :lol:Â
None of this information is surprising, though it is nice to get some official confirmation of the fail.musicalmac

Fair enough, though I'm not really hating.
I'm genuinely curious, can you not use the two features that separate the DS from the 3DS (3D and Gyro) at the same time? If moving it even slightly makes you lose 3D...

It's all good. I'm kind of wondering the same thing. 3DS has me both pumped and skeptical somehow.

You could move with the system But nah, Ninty diden't really think that one through. I imagine that the 3DS Gyro functions will soon go the way of the Sixaxis in PS3 games3DS vs NGP blogdarkspineslayer
Gamespot didn't want to put your message in the quotes, weird.
Anyways, a few things. One, the graphical difference is fairly large, and you are understimating it, its not something I care about all too much, but I should really put it in my sig "always give credit, where credit is due". Having to split the 3DS onto 2 separate screens takes away from this, most games, also like you said, don't use the 2nd screen in any meaningful way. Most games add convinience, like Pokemon, where I would not have cared if they just made me use the buttons instead. TWEWY did it nicely, but thats really only one example.Â
Two, multimedia IS different, each 3DS screen, like the DS, is very small, it is far better to watch any sort of movies or other multimedia from a crisp, larger screen.
Three, they do seem to be focusing on its new unique features for now, the back touch in the examples looked interesting, two analogs allows FPS and such to work well for once, without covering the bottom screen with your hand like on the DS.Â
Remember, I'm talking entirely hardware, until E3, we don't know much about NGP software.
But really my comment you quoted had nothing to do with NGP vs 3DS, it was just something I see as a fault on the 3DS itself, not everything needs to be comparisons. Â
Glitchspot diden't post the message, the blog is part of my sig (i've since updated my post)
Well, I diden't mean to say that. there are tons of games that use the touch screen in a very meaningful way, such as Trauma center, Kirby Canvas Curse, Nintendogs, TWEWY, Pokemon and many more. the touch screen itself was and is still very signifigant. its mostly by design that games typicly use the extra screen for menus and other controls. thats not to say its a bad thing. I woulden't have enjoyed Heartgold nearly as much if I had to repeatedly swap touch and button controls like with the sinoh games.
If you want to get technical, its always best to do multimedia on a dedicated device rather than something with the multimedia as a secondary focus. I used my PSP 2000 as an MP3 player for a time, and the experience was horrible and unintuitive. 3DS screen is fairly small, but people will still watch on smaller screens, such as an Ipod. Both will likely have equaly sucky web browsers and will again, likely not hold a candle to a dedicated MP3 player with audio media. NGP may get a slight edge with movies VS the 3DS (if we're not taking the 3D effect into consideration), but there will also be much better than the NGP if that is your consern
I very well may be underestimating the NGP, but playing devils advocate, are most people underestimating the 3DS? we don't know yet.
Again, original intended post has been edited in

Well music playing is one thing, you can have tiny MP3 players with gigs and gigs of space for cheap, using something like the DS or PSP for that would be pretty meh. Movies though, considering the quality of OLED screens, would be better than most devices, especially better than watching off an iPhone, other small screens, etc. 3D movies I guess we'll have to see, but I hate them in theatres, so I doubt a tiny screen will change that.
As for an earlier part I didn't quote to do with the touch screen, I meant using two screens in a meaningful way, not just the touch. Having a menu or something up at all times isn't that big of a deal.Â

I'll give you that. If I wanted to watch movies, I would still take a 47" HDTV with Bluray and surround sound any day over a handheld screen that will get scratched to hell and back
Alright, Yeah, you can also have that one (since it was a point I made myself)
Just to drop a few names though, Sonic Rush/Colours, Hotel Dusk, Guitar Hero games, and Brain age all make a decent use of the dual screens
[QUOTE="yoshi_64"]If you wanna give me your 3DS at RAD offices, I'll gladly take it. :) Thanks. :D Teufelhuhn
I think the 3DS will be a fun device, because in the end, software counts, right? I only base this because I owned more games on my DS than my PSP (or should I just say Square-Enix handheld... :P ) and that's likely what will happen already for the 3DS. Of course I could be wrong, and I don't mind it. I'll get both, but when RAD is making Okamiden 3DS port, or some other port game, don't get too upset ok bro? :) :P Â
[QUOTE="Hoffgod"]So what game did you play?Teufelhuhn
I played Street Fighter, Kid Icarus, Lego Star Wars, and that submarine game.
I am hearing from a few who have played Kid Icarus about the poor controls...
confirm mr Toofoothoon?
[QUOTE="enterawesome"]"biasedbecauseofhisjob" Where do you work, Teuf? Just curious, are you live a dev or something?789shadow
He made the PSP God of War titles with Ready at Dawn.
No way, that's rad! :D Chains of Olympus was pretty awesome, and GoS looks really fun as well.3D is probably the least interesting thing about it.
Are you serious about the nub? Everyone else is saying how superior it is to that crappy PS.P.....oh...wait...
No but seriously, will probably get it day one with Pilotwings. It is time for a upgrade from my DS phat.Â
