I picked up the collectors edition of WiC yesterday, regretfully delayed my Halo 3 time, but I just had to try it.

The edition featured a nice documentary about the Berlin Wall, some Special Features disc I wont touch until I complete the game, a real piece of the Berlin wall, with some grafitti on it. Looks like Sovjiet cheaped out on it since it's got a rock in it and isn't concrete all the way through. It also had a 10 Days Trail vesion of the game for you to hand out. NOt to mention the cool package it came in. Edit: I forgot to mention the creative headset it came with as well. Nice thing, too bad I allready have 6 headsets, oh well. :P

First off, I just ahve to say this. If you haven't got this game, get it. It's awesome, truly awesome, and the easy settings is easy enough for anyone to manage it.

I'm sure you allready know this, but I'll tell you anyway. The game is set in an alternate reality where The "Anti Facist Protective Barrier" aka the Berlin Wall never fell and Sovjiet launched an attack on Europe. A while after the attack they send an invation into the Unitied States and all hell breaks loose. The majority of the US Military is allready present in Europe so they are way too few to fend off the initial attack, and thats as much as I can say about the game without going more than 5 minutes in.

The story is absolutely epic, you also get some missions in Europe to tell the story a bit better, one of those have you Command a few units of the Norwegian Jegerkommando or Rangers as you would call them. They have the most awesome and authentic accent I have ever heard in a game. They speak with a clear Norwegian accent, and in stressful situations they pronounce words spelled the same in English and Norwegian (there is a lot of words like that) in Norwegian. They also say the line "Jegerkommandoen er kampklare!" which means "Rangers are ready for action!" and the best part of it all is that these guys are some of the best infantry units in the game.

This is not your regular RTS though, there is no basebuilding, but rather reinforcements you can call in. As you complete objectives you usually unlock more reinforcements, but that depends on the mission. I was very sceptical about this, but what this does is make the game a lot more combat realistic since you will be sent into combat, constantly fighting to stay alive and complete your objectives. This game is a lot more fast paced than your regular RTS, but it also is more easy to manage since there isn't that many units to control at once.

You also have a wide arrange of artilery, airstrikes and the likes you can order around, usch as napalm, anti tank missiles, airstrike, cluster bomb and more. Maybe even small tactical Nukes, but I don't know about that yet.

Usually when I play an RTS there is always something that gets under my skin, something I want differn't or better, but I can honestly say that I haven't run into one such thing with this game. The Graphics are extremely good, it runs smooth, the sound is great, the gameplay is more than what you would expect, the camera control is good, the mission veriety is excellent, the alternate history is really well written and the story is one of the best I have ever seen in a game.

This is a must buy guys, especially for someone who remotely likes RTS's. I have to admit I'm not the biggest RTS fan, but this is probably one of the best games to come out for years.

I haven't tried the online yet, but I can guess with the way the game handles reinforcements it will be a lot more action packed and fast paced than other games.

And the Norwegian Jegekommando is just awesome, I like games where my country get some attention too. :P

Sounds like you like it because they give props to your Norwegian... ness. :P

Does sound fun though. I'll have to get it when I get a computer that, you know, can do more than process... words.

Hehe I thought it was amazing before I got to that mission and then I it just raised to an entire new level. :D

It comes out for 360 in November, and I think this game will actually be pretty good to control with a 360 controller, so you may want to check it out then.

Hmm. The 360 really is a nice placeholder. See, in my current living situation, a PC doesn't work. Sad, but true. I like to PC game with, you know, more than 1 foot of elbow room.

So, I'm just being patient. Within a year, I'll be back. And, until then, the 360 is really getting a lot of games.

I bought the game the day it came out. I beat it yesterday and I am playing it online now daily. I say it is the game of the year, even over Halo. It did something different in the RTS genre, that is what makes it better. The game truely feels epic in every sense of the world.

Really World in Conflict could be the best game to have released in years.

I think this game is way better than Halo 3 as well. Escpecilly after trying the online part of it. This is amazing. It's not your regular build game so there are several different players on each team with different tasks which is either infantry, armour, air or support. It's extremely entertaining and fast paced.

I beat the game a few hours ago after getting it yesterday, the single player was really great, but I am defintaly going to have to play it over again and lose intentionally just to see what happens. :D

Has any of you heard anything about a possible expansion pack on the way?
