Ya flash is much less relavent than it was 4 years ago. Living without it is much more reasonable now. ;)I could be wrong here but arent things headed more towards html5 now and flash is unrelavent?

With that said I never saw the problem in having flash as an option cuz you can simply not install it in the first place if you dont like it!!!! Heck you can set flash to not load automatically even if you have it installed, I have it set on demand where I can click on a flash object to activate it or just ignore it.
Exactly!this sits well only if it enhances the advancement of HTML5. Otherwise, too soon.

TechCrunch details this revelation really well:

The user comments in that article really contribute, as well.
Further evidence that Apple knew exactly what it was doing:

Apple had a lot to do with Flash coming into obsolesence as fast as it did. The transition would have lasted much longer without the push. Thank God it's over now.
Good thing Google knew to wait a bit longer until HTML5 really started coming around. Still, hopefully it didn't pull the trigger too soon.

If that were the case why would google opt out of flash for chrome?adobe never made flash work with the browser, they say so themselves. Heres the quote from adobe: "Adobe is no longer developing Flash Player for mobile browsers, and thus Chrome for Android Beta does not support Flash content."
This was entirely adobes call. Knowing how google is a serious feature whore, they would probably like to keep support until the last remaining banner ad
