Recently my SG Note died and I returned it to my carrier. They are claiming it was ruined during its production so they are offering me to exchange it for any other phone in the market. I had a hard time deciding between either another Note, SG Nexus or HTC One X.

Eventually I decided in favor for One X. The thing is that the idea of unremovable battery is a bit frightening as reviewers are frequently mentioning its bad battery life. Also, I am a bit concerned about its overall build quality.

So, if there is any, feedback from existing users would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Why are you not considering the galaxy S3? It has similar UI and screen technology as the galaxy note, if you are happy with the note then you will be happier with an S3 minus the screen size.

The HTC one X is going to be a rather different experience I am not saying it's necessarily an inferior phone but in your situation the S3 seems like the natural choice.

I am not a great fan of its design. I like One X' design more though SGS3 has a more solid reputation. I'll give it a second thought.

How comes. I thought that the international model has a quad core while AT&T has only two. :O Though it may have a better GPU which I know nothing of.

The Krait CPU is a newer architecture supprting wider bandwith for information processes, in theory the output deliverd on the dual core is equivalent to that of the quad core. Several benchmarks for the US One X from AT&T show the benchmarks even higher than International, Unlucky for us aussies telstra some how slowed it down:? but even then it still flies through tasks. On top of that Battery life is amazing on the One XL battery Life on the One X is sh!t. Trust me i had both of them

I see. I just checked my carriers' homepage. It looks like they are giving SGS3 away at a reasonable price. I think I'm getting it.

Sense 4.0 is by far the best custom UI I have ever used. It's fluid, snappy and simple to use. TouchWiz doesn't even come close. I have the AT&T Snapdragon S4 One X. Best Android device I have ever used.

I would like to point out that the adreno 225 GPU consumes lots of ram whereas the tegra 3 has its dedicated ram so the international one X has an edge when it comes to ram.

and for games the tegra 3 is much better with some games having effects only available on tegra 3 phones. The terga 3 may be a bit power hungry but is one of the best chips around. I consider the snapdragon one x very limited with only 16gb internal, not nearly enough for me, I have under 8gb left on my 32gb card. Might be fine for most users but those who use their phones for media 16gb just wont cut it. The one x looks better and to me has a better build than the s3 but the s3 is the better phone. Both are great and I'd probably pick the one x considering how much cheaper it is, around 20% cheaper is lot for a phone that is just about as good.

Honestly, though the details the tegra 3 provides is not mind blowing to warrant it over the S4 SOC. i played shadowgun on both, and i have completely forgotten how it looked on the One X. When playing on the XL the graphics are still beautiful, heck it still looks great on the sensation.

Mobile GPU architectural differences isnt as if you are playing between a ps3 and a ps2, You may have a little better lighting or a little more detail to shadows, its nothing major, more like a difference between a GTX 560 and a gtx 570.

i can not see any reason why one would choose the One X over the One XL, unless you prefer white over grey. LTE is more important to a phone over little textural details in mobile gaming. Battery life is also more important in mobile phones.

Impreza aren't you from NZ, Telstra in OZ has the 32gb One XL, is there not a similar provider to Telstra in NZ.

The XL variation isn't available where I live, even if it was available, I doubt anyone here would appreciate it as 4G is quite scarse here.

I am not a mobile gamer as mobile phones tend to get extra hot when games are being played thus making me nervous. This is going to be my 6th Android phone in nearly 2 years - most of them have been discarded as their specs aren't enough to support any newer versions of AND and apps. This is one of the major reasons why I am looking for a phone with hardware which would serve me longer than 5-6 months at max. I had to return 4 of them due manifacturing errors eventually so it's not a big deal, to buy a new phone from time to time that is, but it is rather frustrating.

Since I picked up my Note I've been using it only to check emails, check in with 4sq, listen to music and view some text or pdf files from time to time because I have developed some kind of distrust in capablities of mobile devices. Other reason why I need such a hefty device with a large screen is because I have large palms and hands in general and typing with any smaller screen than 4'0 is a nightmare for me. A big screen is also handy for reading said text files.

As I said, I am not a mobile gamer and each individual phones' gaming options couldn't be less important to me. All I need is for it to have a large screen and enough horse power to display rather large pdfs and text files. Note was too big, it wouldn't fit in my pocket, but I guess a phone that is 4.7' or close would suffice.

Here come both S3 and One X into the picture as they are the most powerful handsets out there at the moment. Tomorrow I am going to my carriers' office and I know that One X is a definite option of what they would offer but I am not that sure about S3 as it's too fresh and it become available for taking only recently.

My phone has been on the market for 20 months, it is running the latest android version and it supports all the current apps. Seems to me the phones you bought were never a good buy to begin with, it's not anybody else's fault but yours.

Anyways if 4G is not relavent for you then donot buy a carrier phone, they are always more poorly supported than international phones. If you are not into gaming and other bells and whistles then I would suggest the international galaxy nexus, it fits all your needs perfectly and would be supported for a long long time.

However thats assuming you are gonna save money by going for galaxy nexus. If that is not the case then buy the one X or galaxy S3, whichever you find more attractive. The one X tegra version should have no problems lasting a day with your usage.

Do whatever you do dont buy a carrier phone since you seem to care about latest versions, the international phones are always better supported.

No way! Not in this life anyway.

On screen time is about 1 1/2 to 2 hours for tegra 3 version. On screen time for s4 is around 4 hours. We don't buy phones to leave them in standby.

The tegra 3 would be lucky to last you 6-8 hours of moderate usage. I get about 16 - 20 hours of moderate usage.

Thats just... :|

Anyways so you dont have XL available that leaves galaxy S3 and galaxy nexus. Honestly the nexus seems more than enough for your needs but only go for it if it saves you money.

So you saying the sensation has better battery life? It lasts many hours of video playback would be over 6 hours and full on 3d games such as mass effect would be around 3-4 hours. The one xl is not officially available through carriers here, but it can be found....for $200 more than the one x and it only has 16gb internal which wont cut it.

On-screen time is not the same as how long a phone lasts a marathon.

It's using your phone normally and then when the battery is low look at the amount of time the screen has been on. It will vary wildly with usage obviously but normally phones get around 3-5 hours. 2 hours is just too bad.

Not sure about the sensation, i missed that generation of HTC, I bought the optimus 3d at that time :P. The one XL in oz has 32gb so it was an attractive buy for me. Really happy with telstras version, althoufgh benchmarks show it being lower than the US variant, my quadrant scores are ~4500 US ones are ~5000.

Now I am confused on what to get. Battery life matters to me, but not so much since I have found a solution by carrying an extra battery when I know I would be gone from a socket for too long. The greatest factor for me would be to have fast menus and non stuttering games. :)

HTC products no longer have removable battery so samsung is the only choice for that. International galaxy S3 is also gaming performance wise the king.

Make sure you get the 32GB galaxy S3 if you are heavy gamer because you cant install games on an SD card.

Thanks. If I ever do decide to get a phone next time rather than a phone tab, I might consider the S3. But then I am also thinking of holding off until the Note 2 arrives. Geez tech is moving so fast my wallet can't keep up. hahaha

That is just stupid what is the point of a sd card if you can't even use it for everything? Mostly the s3 is only 16gb with around 11gb available. It really seems they really don't want you to use sd cards anymore which is just annoying. I'd rather have 4gb internal and a sd card you can install everything onto than 16gb and a sd card that can't be used for games. If sd cards are slowly killed off it is going to hurt android big time now windows is going to support them.

Thats always been the case with phones that have an internal SD storage, you have an HTC phone with no internal SD thats why you havent faced this problem. The galaxy S3 uses it's unified storage for both app data and internal SD. I dont see the "problem" though you can use the memory card for music, movies, camera, backups etc. If somebody considers 11.5GB not enough for only applications then they should get the 32GB version.

It's not samsung trying to discourage SD cards, it's the devs who dont give option of installing game in internal or external storage.

However ease of handling >>>>>> looks anyday. My fathers iphone 4S decidedly looks better than my nexus S but goddamn it has such a poor grip it's always like I am about to drop it. I'll never trade my phone's design with that, despite being significantly bigger than iphone the nexus S is actually easier to use.

-_-' The iPhone 4s looks better than yours.... I don't think so. If you give me enough i phone 4/4s, i can build you a house out of those bricks. I cant't promise you it would last though, the glass material is pretty poor in comparison to concrete/stone.

Totally agreed the galaxy nexus is the best looking phone samsung has made so far. I really really love the buttonless and logoless front just glass and screen. Nexus S is the same from the front but it is rather chubby and the back is too rounded.

:P When you get a phone as sexy as the One X, its ok to not have the sd card.

Sure if there is 32GB internal.

However memory card is priceless when you factory reset phone, its a pain to transfer back all your media.

besides the fact your phone will run much better if you format the card, my phone didn't like me just dumping my card in from my old phone, sure it worked but was like 10x faster once I formatted it and got ride of all the junk from my old phone.

[QUOTE="mystic_knight"]Best looking phone IMO is the Galaxy nexus, followed by the One X and then the xperia arc.Gambler_3

Totally agreed the galaxy nexus is the best looking phone samsung has made so far. I really really love the buttonless and logoless front just glass and screen. Nexus S is the same from the front but it is rather chubby and the back is too rounded.

Yeah the nexus is really pretty, maybe google helped design it and they have some decent designers, samsung really doesn't make phones that look that great most of the time, I'd even say the s2 looks much better than the s3. Sony and HTC phones look so much better, but samsung always wins on the spec sheet and sony is so far behind these days.
