A 17 week schedule in the NFL? No thanks.  ESPN.COM

I have a better idea. Keep it at 16 games. Get rid of a pre-season game. And start the year a week earlier. That way Super Bowl sunday is back in January. Where it belongs!!!

Why change it to 17, then all the records will be broken.  Keep it at 16 the way it is now.

I don't like it.  Sure it'd probably be good for expanding the game internationally, but it totally messes with the season.  No more .500 teams, as bgres said it would allow for many records to fall easier, and it becomes a ***** to schedule.

I actually prefer a team to lose a home game instead of this plan.

I heard about this, I think it is retarded.  We don't need games over seas....at least not regular season games.  Do they even care about the players?  Yeah, lets fly one day earlier to take an 18 hour + flight to somewhere they don't really care to watch or know who we are.  And oh yeah, you still have to come home and play on Sunday back in the states the next weekend too.

I knew someone who used to say things like this.  His name was Corky.  Corky wore a helmet because he was mentally disabled........ergo, this idea is retarded.

The NFL is great how it is, there is no reason to stretch it out to thin.

owners do not want to give up the money they would make up off of concessions, gear, etc.  I agree, but they would be loosing to much money, at least they think they would.  Plus, you have the season ticket holders that would be pissed too.  I would be.

I wouldn't change it due to the complications that will come with it but I do see why they are thinking about it........the London game generated 300,000 ticket requests in 2 days so it will be a huge deal for the NFL and that is why they want to do it.

it was 300,000 at that time but it is up over 750,000 now - that is huge for the NFL in terms of global marketing and merchandising and it would mean more football which I ain't mad at.
