All Eyes On Batch

All eyes will be on the steelers second string QB Charlie Batch(9 years). With the steelers coming off of a victorious superbowl season in 05,the stakes are going to be high for them this year.Charlie is going to be the main man this Thursday night when the steelers take on the new and reformed miami dolphins. This is the NFL season opener. So that puts more pressure on the veteren.

Batch will do fine. I remember him in Detroit. Detroit just kills any talent that any one has. If Batch would have went somewhere else out of college he would still be a starter. Same with Harrington. But Harrington will be a starter again in this league.

Why did you bring Brett Favre into the conversation. You created a thread about Charlie Batch and all of a sudden you call out Brett Favre just because a Packers fan said you're dreaming if you think the Steelers will repeat. Lame.

This game is far from a no brainer like someone stated, all season starters should be approached with caution (I wouldn't bet on many of these games) because there are many unanswered questions entering the start of the season.

Questions like are the Dolphins nearly as good as everyone is hyping them to be with big ? Marks like Daunte who could have a great season or could have another crapper like last year.

Just don't bet on season openers and keep an open mind guys :D

u guys are on crack if u think the dolphins will win the SB. i see a lot of teams more worthy: panthers, seahawks, patriots, ravens, and of course the giants.

Everybody who said that the dolphins will win please give me 3 reasons why the steelers wont win....a quarterback is not the whole team...whenever you have one of the best defeneses and running teams in the league i dont think u have much to worry about...

I don't think it really matters how Batch plays. It's not like it's the only game the Steelers play this season. Big Ben will come back, then Batch willl go back to being his backup and no one will remember that he started the season opener. Plain and simple.

the dolphins will be much improved over last year but i believe that the steelers will win.  batch is a veteran and he has a great supporting cast to help him out.

So, is this topic about Charlie Bath or the Miami Dolphins/other teams chances of winning the Super Bowl? I am confused.

Anyways, it will be interesting to see how Batch does in the season opener. I always hope for ex-Lions to do good in other places just to spite their organization's patheticness.

Actually my eyes aren't on Batch at all, he's the last player I would want to look at on that field.  This topic is incorrect.

Batch for the win!

15 for 25 is ok, but not great, but out of those 15 completions 3 were TDs.  Now that is impressive for a veteran that most gave no chance, especially an ex-Lion.  He definately showed up Culpepper and I would consider Batch to be my player of the game.

Also, Willie Parker put on a decent performance as well.

most steeler fans though batch would do fine(was 2-0 as a starter last year) and he is a very capable system. I think the steelers have one of the best 1-2 qb combo's in the league along with the pats and the broncos. If other teams qb's get injured that team is in big trouble.

Pats only have Matt Cassell they would be in trouble as for the Broncos I think if Cutler started he would do as well as Ben Roethlisburger  did his rookie year neax year the Brocos will be cutler's team

yea i think the steelers are one of the very few teamst hat can handle the fact of there starting qb being hurt but yet again most teams dont have 9 year veterens as back ups

O RLY? So your telling me if Cutler goes in he will go undefeated this whole regular season? I doubt it, he maybe good but to say any rookie QB ever again will ever do as well as Ben did is just plain out insane unless they do it. What Ben did his rookie season flat out just doesnt happen. Its like one and a billion odds.
