LAKE FOREST, Ill. (Sept. 3, 2006) -- Thomas Jones will start for Chicago Bears at running back, regaining the role he lost before training camp after missing voluntary offseason workouts.

His competitor, Cedric Benson, injured his shoulder after taking a hit during a training camp practice and for the second successive year did not play in a preseason game. Benson held out last season after the Bears chose him in the first round.

Full story here.

I guess it's a bit too early to call Cedric Benson a bust just yet because he really hasn't seen significant playing time.

Yeah then we would have to call Aaron Rodgers, or Jason Campbell busts.

This was expected.  Not really a knock against Benson though as Jones has really stepped up his game to hold onto that job.

Even when Jones missed some practice, he has showed Chicago he is a solid player, I expect a repeat of last season for his numbers, I am seriously starting to consider Benson a but, he hasnt showed he is worth starting in the league, wich a RB should do almost right away at least at training camp.

In that division they dont need a qb......who has one really? Farve is the best one and he threw 30 picks last year. Or something like that.

With a the 7th string RB starting...your point? You can't have a passing game without a running game

Forget QBs. There is no offense. Period.

i think that the bears made the right decision.  if only mushin muhammad will have a good year and grossman will turn out to be a passing machine.  mushin is on my fantasy football team so i need a good year from him.
