I'm not asking of all time.Because of course Vince lombadi is the best of all time. But I'm asking of the superbowl era which is from 1970 to right now...I mean you can say Mike shannan was good in Denver but still he was handed john elway where as bellichick found tom brady. And Joe gibbs was great but hasn't he kind of lost his greatness in recent years? With how bad the redskins are now.So through 1970 to now is he the best?

The numbers

Joe gibbs:168-99-0 (Three superbowls).

Mike shannon:140-86-0 (Two superbowls)

Bill belichick:134-84-0 (Three superbowls should I just give him the fourth?)

Let's say he gets the fourth does that in your mind but him ahead of gibbs?Cause Now I can see why one would say gibbs is better right now cause he has three. But once bellichick gets four does he automatically go ahead of Gibbs? And I think it might be worth noting that gibbs never went back to back.

I'd like a serious answer other then some fanboy"He cheaterz HE SUCK NO!".

Voting Bill Bellicheck for best coach in the Super Bowl era is a lot like voting Randy Moss the best wide receiver in the NFL. You really don't want to do it considering their attitudes and personalities, but you just can't help it.

However, there is one coach I believe was better during the Super Bowl era. I think you all know him as Bill Walsh. RIP

this might be some strange news coming from me but . . .

Tom Brady almost and i mean so close to going to the 49ers

he was in many trade packages no one wanted to take

Belichick wasnt exactly excited about Brady, well until they won the SB and that History from that point

Belichick had a horrible record before Brady came up, nothing like the genius he is today.

but. . .

If Walsh didnt have Montana or Shanahan have Elway would they ever be considered great coaches?

I honestly think Belichick is the greatest coach of the Sb era mainly because he is also in the salary cap era, where he and the owner just cant buy players, scouting and very hard work to find the right players for the team with in a salary cap, and he did it this year i think the Pats have a 5 millions left on their salary cap! He won multiple time, he won back to back SB, he has the longest winning streak, he is about to set records. For a coach its all about building your team, working with them, getting over the loss of some players and rebuilding, Belichick has done that all, but the what i like the most he has always kept that core of the team through the SB wins and he is the genius to bring in the supporting cast in the rest of the team to make a great team. What he has done this year is genius pure almost evil genius for what he did to make this years team and what he is doing with this years team!

players need the right coach and the coach needs the right players, the coach finds the players i.e. Belichick it works i.e wins 3 SB thus making him one of the greatest coaches of all time and the number #1 coach of the salary cap era!

Irrelevant Questions: Inside the head of Bill Belichick
Tom Curran sits down with the Patriots' unflappable coach

There's no shortage of opinions when it comes to Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. Many are poorly informed. Is he prickly. Yeah. And he's funny. And he's condescending and accommodating. Stubborn and adaptable. He's nuanced. But nobody's got much time for nuance these days. And, at 55, Belichick isn't out to change people's minds. He is what he is. And, with his team 13-0 and about to play the hated Jets for the first time since the word "Spygate" entered the NFL vernacular, Belichick gave us a peek under the hood. LINK
