Did it bother anyone else how that GMC was prominently featured in the intro to the game last night?

Hank Jr's intro to ABC's football games has been a classic NFL staple for years. I found it hard to get pumped up for a hard-hitting, fast-paced gridiron battle when I'm being forcefed the idea of buying a truck. They even included it in the song: "a custom-made party"? WTF!?

Are we coming to an era where football teams not only name their stadiums after razors and ketchup, but put giant pencil company logos at midfield? Will they clutter uniforms to make me want a new sofa? Is money really THAT important?

What do you think? Is this blatant commercialism actually helping the game? Or is it tarnishing the image in the eyes of the American people?

I think its ok for a company to subsidize a stadium and name it after their company. its not like gillette stadium makes me want to shave. as long as they keep it off the field its ok. I'd get pissed in a hurry if a company made thier logo a team logo though. thats just my opinion.

I actually think they went overboard with the Burger King commercial. That is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. It doesn't make me want to eat at Burger King but it was a hilarious commercial.

I find "The King" to be disturbing....almost like how clowns are disturbing to most. The commercial itself is pretty genious but that King freaks me out...like when he just shows up in the guys bed, What's up with that?

I can't stand Hank Jr's are you ready for some football. What kind of question is that anyway? I'm watching football so yeah I'm ready for some football. I don't watch ABC cause they have good shows. They need to dump his dumb @$$ and get someone or something else. I thought they were streching to the corny with the GMC truck coming out of the mud after showing a running back go down in the mud. Cheesy by my standards.

The one where he intecepts Bledsoe? Yeah, that one sucks, dude...It's the lamest cmmercial I've ever seen. It's like, "Oh, what could we do....How about superimposing the King on the football field as a Raven to intercept Drew Bledsoe? Yeah, that would be cool." I guess it was mildly funny the first time only because I was basically just like, "WTF is going on....Why is the Burger King on the field???" After the first time, it's kind of a hollow commercial; once you've seen it once, it's not funny anymore.

As for advertising, sponsoring a stadium name is the farthest it should go. I REALLY hope we don't get to the point where the players turn into NASCAR cars and have badges of different companies and corporations all over their jerseys. I would actually stop watching if it ever went that far. Personally, I think the stadium sponsorship from companies and changing the name from something historic or original to something like Yahoo! Stadium (even though it doesn't exist) is just ridiculous...

That's why I found it so funny. It's so ridiculously stupid that it's funny. I mean c'mon, you're watching a football highlight and all of a sudden that retarded king steps in and intercepts the pass.

I agree with that king being creepy. When he woke up in that guys bed, that was just wrong.

The Diet Pepsi one is mildly funny. I thought the one with the cell phone and the Offensive Coordinater for the Raiders giving driving directions to his wife while calling a play was hilarious.

The American car companies can advertise all they want, but they'll never get me buying their crap unless they can put out some automobiles of similar quality. To bad for them it has been engraved in most of the worlds head that companies like GMC can't even compare to the quality of a company like Honda

Oh, its coming, sooner or later they'll be in the 'AOL bowl' or 'walmart arena'. look at the NFL europe uniforms and see the future.

btw. the burger king commercials are great. best sports commercial though is the old Carl lewis perilli ad where his feet were tire tread.
