NYJCMart28 posed these questions before the season started about your expectations of your favorite team:

  • What is your team's biggest remaining weakness?
  • What do you expect from your team this season?
  • How many games do you expect your quarterback to play this season?
  • When will your running back slow down?
  • Which newcomer will play the biggest role this season?
  • Who will be your team's offensive MVP this season?
  • Who will be your team's defensive MVP this season?
  • How many wins do you expect this season from your team?
  • Will your team make the playoffs?
  • Answer them again, including what your expectations were and how things actually turned out.

    Cowboys
Weakness- switching to the 3-4; wasn't a problem, the DLs and LBs did a great job of adjusting.  Offensive line injuries/inexperience and close games were the real problems
Expectations- compromise of the last 2 years; that's exactly what we got: good on both sides of the ball, just inconsistant
QB games- 15 or 16; Bledsoe played every game
RB slowdown- midseason, if at all; Jones slumped the whole year, right up until the last couple games
Newcomer- Bledsoe or Demarcus Ware; right on, Bledsoe was everything we wanted
Offense MVP- Julius Jones; turned out to be Bledsoe
Defense MVP- Roy Williams; yep, Pro Bowl as usual
Wins- 9; I was right on with 9
Playoffs- Wild Card with luck, but probably not; dead on, Cowboys barely missed the playoffs

So to sum it up, my expectations of the Cowboys were pretty much right.

    BROWNS
    Weakness-
    Offensive production
Expectations- 6-10 is a good record considering they have some of the least amount of talent.
QB games- 11 by Dilfer, 5 by Frye
RB slowdown- All season.  When your starting RB scores two TDs, there's a problem
Newcomer- Frye.  Led the team well for a rookie.
    Offense MVP- Droughns
    Defense MVP- Davis
    Wins- 6
    Playoffs- no.

    Miami Dolphins

    1) Before: QB and O Line After: QB still remains an issue and it will be addressed, The O Line improved greatly but it can and will get better.

    2) I expected a 7 to 9 win season, the team went 9-7 so I was right in my prediction.

    3) I expected Ferotte to play at least 15 games since injuries happen, well he played in all of them but he only started in 15 of them, I think.

    4) I expected Ronnie to slow down around the end of the year. Ronnie started slow but he picked up the pace, but he got hurt at the end of the season. Ricky played well in his role also.

    5) I said Ronnie would since this team would be built around him, I think he did have a big impact.

    6) Ronnie Brown, it looks like its Chambers though.

    7) JT, and it remains JT.

8 That qusetion is really similar to the second one.

    9)  No I didn't expect playoffs, and they didn't make the playoffs.

Oakland Raiders 1. What is your team's biggest remaining weakness? Question is what isn't. There are too many, Al Wilson the owner, Norv Turner's lack of better coaching, a new QB, too many injuries, the need of better players or just remedy that by better coaching the existing players. 2. What do you expect from your team this season? As long as Al Wilson is present, I expect them to do just as horrible if not worse. I'm crossing my fingers though and I'll never give up hope, I believe in miracles. 3. How many games do you expect your quarterback to play this season? Hopefully they can get a new QB and I pray to God he don't get the curse of getting injured. If I looked to the previous year and Cordell Stewart is still there, I'm sure he'll play all season but the question is it good if he does? If he plays like he did, then lets hope he gets injured. 4. When will your running back slow down? Like I said it matters but if I looked to last year for hope, right away, I wish they still had Tyrone Wheatley. 5. Which newcomer will play the biggest role this season? Raiders are too undecided as of now but I think Randy Moss, though he's not a newcomer, the biggest role will be in his hands. 6. Who will be your team's offensive MVP this season? Most likely Randy Moss or Jerry Porter 7. Who will be your team's defensive MVP this season? Warren Sapp if he's back 8. How many wins do you expect this season from your team? Also depends if they lose the owner and such, if they do, I expect enough to make the playoffs, if not, 4 like last year, maybe a little more. 9. Will your team make the playoffs? Look to my previous answer, yes if changes are made, no if not.

  • What is your team's biggest remaining weakness?- An inexperienced secondary, but even that's not that 'weak.'
  • What do you expect from your team this season? I expected them to 3-peat and they can still do that.
  • How many games do you expect your quarterback to play this season? If Tom Brady got hurt I think Gillette Stadium would collaspe on itself.
  • When will your running back slow down? Dillon is still banged up, but is finally running well again.  I however did not expect to see Patrick Pass mature like he did this season.
  • Which newcomer will play the biggest role this season? Not really a new comer, but I knew Roosevelt Colvin was going to be a beast this year after being injuried the past two seasons.
  • Who will be your team's offensive MVP this season?  Tom Brady.  Oh lookie...I was right.
  • Who will be your team's defensive MVP this season? Veteran player: Willie McGinest.  Rookie Player: Ellis Hobbs.  Remember that name ladies, he's going to be sick in the coming years.  I watched him in college and he gets better with every game.
  • How many wins do you expect this season from your team?  I expect another Superbowl title.
  • Will your team make the playoffs? Brady is 9-0 in the post season.  You're still the Champion until someone knocks you down.  It wouldn't be lunacy to not expect the Patriots to go all the way again.

    Oakland Raiders

  • It's too early to answer any of these questions for the 2006 NFL season, so I'll answer them from this not so distant past regular season...

  • Quarterback Kerry Collins, while he may fit in Oakland's vertical passing attack, simply does not have the skill to lead his team to the promised land.  And until that changes, the Raiders will continue to underachieve.

  • I had mixed feelings.  In the offseason, they seemed to have the most high-powered offense in the NFL (on paper).  But that didn't translate to success on the field.  Their defense was the biggest question mark, but they really rose to the occassion and showed teams that they aren't as bad as initially thought.  They began to struggle more and more as the season went on....mostly because they were always on the field since the offense repeatedly went three and out.  I expected seven wins...but that obviously didn't happen.

  • Kerry Collins won't be in Oakland next season.

  • LaMont Jordan never slowed down all season and was surprisingly effective in his starting role.  He'll undoubtedly recover from his turf toe injury, and I don't expect him to slow down next season, either.

  • LaMont Jordan played the biggest role this past season, even though the entire Raider offense underachieved all season long.  Randy Moss played an effective role as well.

  • This season's Offensive MVP was LaMont Jordan.  Next year's will be Randy Moss.

  • This season's Defensive MVP was Derrick Burgess.  Next year's will be either Burgess, Morrison, or Woodson.

  • I again don't expect much, but with a new coach--probably Mike Martz--I expect them to muster at least seven wins.  That all depends (again) on if Kerry Collins truly leaves Oakland and his replacement surpasses his ability.

  • The Playoffs are feasible--their offensive firepower can easily get them there--but they need an effective leader at the quarterback position.  Gannon was the one that held that entire team together through his stay with the Raiders...no one else could have run or managed that offense so well.  We've seen what great QBs can do for their teams (Tom Brady, Peyton Manning), but the trouble remains that ones of elite status are near-impossible to find.

Al Wilson?  HA!  How do you expect any Raiders fan--or any NFL fan for that matter--to take you seriously if you don't even know who the owner of the Oakland Raiders is.  It's AL DAVIS.  He's one of the most profound owners in the game, and you're saying he's the one holding us back?  It's a combination of the coaches and a simple lack of talent.  I agree Turner should have gotten at least another year to try to turn it around, but as Al said, with our firepower on the offensive side of the ball, it's obvious that if you can't average around 30 points a game, you don't deserve to be coaching.  Randy Moss, Jerry Porter, Ronald Curry, Doug Gabriel, Alvis Whitted, Courtney Anderson, Randall Williams, and LaMont Jordan are all at the top of their game.  Kerry Collins is a bad QB....but if you can't win at least seven games with that talent, you simply don't deserve the job.  That was the basis for his firing.  Immediate turnarounds are commonplace....but they are possible.  With a combination of Davis' wheeling and dealing and Jon Gruden's coaching, they had repeated success and led them to the Playoffs year after year.  With the players on the offensive side of the ball (and the surprising performance of the defense), success is expected.  Losing every game to our division rivals didn't help the situation.....

You would replace LaMont Jordan with Tyrone Wheatley????  He played ONE season.  Charlie Garner played the rest and almost had a 1,000 rushing and 1,000 receiving season in 2002.  Wheatley never recovered from his leg injury....Moreover, Jordan is 10X the back he ever was.  Kordell Stewart?  What the **** are you talking about???

"If they get rid of the owner they'll win"....dumbest statement I've ever heard.

I've got a question for you Vanhalun.  I've been trying to come up with a mock draft.  With the way I have things set, Oakland has a great opportunity to pick up Jay Cutler.  Do you think he could be the QB they're looking for, or would you rather get a free agent?

That may be true, but for the Saints it is true.  Tom Benson will hardly spend a dime, I can't wait for him to be done with.

I know this isn't directed at me, but the Raiders did draft Andrew Walter last year.  He put up some good numbers at Arizona St. and I think he should be given a chance.  Cutler is a great QB, but Walter should at least get a shot.

Srry I gave up on Pickem guys, I forgot one week and then just said f$%k it

    Steelers

What is your team's biggest remaining weakness?

Bill Cowher of course he's f%^#ing retarded, theirs plenty of refrences to this, but letting Maddox single handedly cost us two games is more then enough evidence. Simmons, Tuman also blow so hard it sickins me to know we have an insane amount of talent between these two bums, but Cowhers to stupid to make any adjustments. Theirs some others, but thats what sticks out. I should also mention while Simmons has blown hardcore for quite a while now he has looked great the last couple of games. He must be tweakin before the games or something.

What did you expect from your team this season?

They met expectations for the most part with the exception of Stone figure Maddox's two blunders. I expected 13-3 and that would have happend if Maddox had died before the season started.

How many games do you expect your quarterback to play this season?

I expected Ben to play more then he did, but sadly he got beat up because of crappy O line player like Simmons

When will your running back slow down?

Bettis has done ok and Parker had a great debut year (over 1200 yards) Duce needs fired now as hes always injured making him a waste of roster space

Which newcomer will play the biggest role this season?

I thought Willie Parker would and I guess thats right for the most part though Heath Miller was outstanding

Who will be your team's offensive MVP this season?

    Ward

Who will be your team's defensive MVP this season?

Polamalu is who I expected, but Hapton soundly got this.

How many wins do you expect this season from your team?

Expected 13 got 11 do to that sack of $%#$ Maddox

Will your team make the playoffs?

Yes though I didnt expect as a wild card, but this maybe good as we play better on the road for some odd reason. And the Bengals will hand us an easy first victory.

Yes though I didnt expect as a wild card, but this maybe good as we play better on the road for some odd reason. And the Bengals will hand us an easy first victory.

LMAO dude you seem to really hate alot of ppl on your team, its pretty funny.

The only one I really hate is Cowher, sure theirs some a couple bad players starting with some talent sitting behind them, but its not their fault they start and suck its Cowhers fault for being a stuborn ignorant idiot and not playing the better players and Cowhers inability to adjust his gameplan. The Steelers are the most predictable offense in all of football.

Quarterback Kerry Collins, while he may fit in Oakland's vertical passing attack, simply does not have the skill to lead his team to the promised land. And until that changes, the Raiders will continue to underachieve.

Kerry Collins won't be in Oakland next season.

The Playoffs are feasible--their offensive firepower can easily get them there--but they need an effective leader at the quarterback position. Gannon was the one that held that entire team together through his stay with the Raiders...no one else could have run or managed that offense so well. We've seen what great QBs can do for their teams (Tom Brady, Peyton Manning), but the trouble remains that ones of elite status are near-impossible to find.

I've got a question for you Vanhalun. I've been trying to come up with a mock draft. With the way I have things set, Oakland has a great opportunity to pick up Jay Cutler. Do you think he could be the QB they're looking for, or would you rather get a free agent?

I know this isn't directed at me, but the Raiders did draft Andrew Walter last year.  He put up some good numbers at Arizona St. and I think he should be given a chance.  Cutler is a great QB, but Walter should at least get a shot.

I agree.  If they aren't going to trade up to get Leinart or Young--and the situation occurs (which is very rare) that they don't pick up a free agent quarterback, I'd really like to see them give Walter a shot.  God, I really hope that whoever is coaching in Oakland this season's first move involves getting rid of that bum Kerry Collins.

"If they get rid of the owner they'll win"....dumbest statement I've ever heard.

    geaux321

That may be true, but for the Saints it is true.  Tom Benson will hardly spend a dime, I can't wait for him to be done with.

Well in the rare situation where owners fail to put up a reasonable amount of money for their teams and show a constant lack of effort to make them better as a whole, they do need to be fired.  I know how that is.  I'm a Cleveland Indians fan.  Larry Dolan is one of the biggest cheapskates in all of sports.  It's tough to watch with such a great team at the minimal payroll they are at.

your out of your damm mind. the 3-4 defence is the best thing they ever did. there defence wasn't bad. there offense was bad. we should have a friendly argument on this

Answer them again, including what your expectations were and how things actually turned out.

You misread me, ocdog.  Switching to the 3-4 wasn't a problem, but was the main concern at the beginning of the season.
