I read that too, he was a great player, he might have another mediocre season left in the tank but it won't be anything spectacular.  Plus Steven Jackson is on the rise so he did his time to mentor the youth.

Well, he no longer is going to start for the Rams, but he can still be a veteran leader on the team and help Steven Jackson and whoever their QB will be if Marc Bulger doesn't come back healthy.

I think if he retires now he had a great career and was a great back, if he plays another one or maybe two more he'll still be fine. but he has to make sure not to go out liek jerry rice, switching teams and playing as a 3 seed or something terrible like that.

yea its best for him to leave now before he slips into becoming a secondary mediocre back

Marshall Faulk is one of my all time favorite players. He has a ring. He has enough money. He has had a great carreer. He should go out while he is on top. Although it will be sad.

There's not much left that he can do for the team.  He's already spent the last 2 years helping out Jackson, who's now projected to be one of the top backs this coming season.  All that he could really do is be a locker room influence, but that's probably needed right now while the team transitions into what it'll be in the future.  From what I can see, neither decision can be wrong.

Yea, I hate to see players stay around for years after they fade. Most of them probably love the game to much to want to leave, I think thats why Jerry Rice stayed so long, he loved the game. I honestly think that if I were an elite player, I would stay as long as I can play and still love the game.

Faulk is 33 and both his knees are giving him problems. Get out now while he can still walk. He has everything a player could want from a career, he has nothing left to prove. Leave now or suffer the fate of Earl Campbell.

yeah I saw  on PTI the were saying that he had surgery on both knees and one was not responding well, I would hate to see him hobbling around the league from team to to team trying to squeeze out a couple of seasons. Time to hang em up

I think he is. He's a Super Bowl winner, an MVP winner, Offensive Player of the Year, recorded the NFL record for TDs which was later broken, and a few other accomplishments that signify him being in the Hall of Fame.

Sounds like a Hall of Fame resume to me.
