hey folks! it's your old pal Jrodsly. (union members murmuring " old pal?") you gotta read those contracts people! anyways, i have a question: is carolina doomed? there will be a poll with it.
it depends on your definition of "doomed" but I would say no as they get smith back, unless you as a Panthers fan would consider doomed not making it deep into the playoffs. The Panthers will probably rebound and get three straight wins (with TB, NO, and CLE) then they have three tougher games (CIN, PIT, DAL) before their bye in which I expect them to win at least 1 game. So they will probably be .500 or 1 game above or below at the half mark. Next they have 4 winnable games in TB, STL, WAS, and PHI. They should win 3 of these games and could win 4. That would bring them to 7 wins. But next they have the stretch that will make or break their season with 3 tough games, Giants and Pittsburgh on the road and then ATL at home. They finish the year off with the Sants and they should be able to win that game. So roughly minius the 3 make or break strecth they will have 7-9 wins. Depending on what they do in that 3 game stretch will determine their fate. If they get swept they will likely miss the playoffs. If they win all 3 they may win the divison. And if they win 1 or two they may be in the hunt for the wild card.
No, there defense is still very good, and with Steve Smith back the offense will be so much better. They still have a legit shot at the playoffs, it's only been two weeks.
The Panthers offensive line needs to get better. Delhomme is just getting killed in the pocket. Carolina won today, but only by a close margin so there still is some hope.
