Former Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson has passed away at age 68 after losing a battle with melanoma skin cancer.
Johnson began his career as Notre Dame's secondary coach after a brief playing career, and went on to coach for 31 years. He was most notable as the Eagles' defensive boss from 1999-2008. Known for relentless blitzing, Johnson's up-tempo defenses helped Philadelphia to five division titles. Between 2000 and 2008, Johnson's units ranked second in the NFL in sacks (390). He's survived by his wife Vicky, two children, and four grandchildren.

Tragedy. Jim was the main reason why the Eagles were contenders for a while, they lost their only good coach.

You always seem to find a way, even through tragic death, to bash a division rival lulz

But yeah, its going to be weird to see the Eagles defense being led by someone else than Jim Johnson.

Man, I didn't really mean it when I said I wished him to drop dead in all those games.  I knew he wasn't in good health, but I expected him to last at least one more year.  Who else will be taken from football now?

Definitely one of the best d-coordinators out there.  He will be missed and hopefully cancer can be eradicated one of these days.

this is kinda off topic, but who are the new top 3 D coordinators in the nfl?

before it was

1)Labou

2)Kiffin

3)Johnson

but with monte going to college and johnson passing away(RIP) and you cant nominate Rex Ryan because he isnt DC anymore....who are the top 3?
