Norv is leaning towards starting the untested Marques Tuiasasopo (try saying that ten-times fast) over the struggling Kerry Collins and is expected to make a decision by practice on Wednesday. ESPN Article.
The offense, namely the passing game, is horribly underachieving to say the least. With Randy Moss, Jerry Porter, Ronald Curry, Doug Gabriel, and Alvis Whitted, Collins shouldn't have had too many problems spreading the ball around. But just as he did with the Giants, he's shown that no matter how much talent you may surround him with, he's still going to be the mistake-prone bum who fails to get the job done. And I know myself--along with numerous other Raider fans--are about reading to go down to Oakland, pull a Romo, and break this guy's jaw if he's still starting by next year. The fans are calling for Tui to get a shot, but I really don't know. He's just a fresh face...if he does happen to be the reincarnation of Jim Plunkett, as some have said, the Raiders could be on their way up. As many analysts have stated, they're only being held back by Kerry Collins and only Kerry Collins. Sure, the others make some costly mistakes at times and the secondary isn't anything special....but they're a young team with unlimited potential. Many Fantasy gurus picked Kerry Collins to be the #1 Stud for the 2005 season, but as many of us Raider fans feared, he's been nothing but an utter joke.
And if ever I would possibly like to see Davis regress and go out and sign a seasoned and possibly washed-up veteran, it would have to be Brett Favre. That is, of course, if Tui proves to be what I think he'll be.
