Week One: otherwise known as The First Step of Wally's Return Journey to the Top of the Pick'em Mountain.

If you read the practice thread, you know how the rules work. If not, you'll pick it up quickly. Just do what everybody else does.

- Seeing as this is the first week, there will be no Upset Specials allowed.
- The opening game is on Thursday. Make sure you have at least that pick in by kickoff. I'll mark down who got points for it, so you can edit your other picks until Sunday kickoff.

Thursday, September 4th
Washington @ NY GiantsThe Giants will not make it to the playoffs. I guarintee that, but the Redskins are even weaker.
WAS: 13 NYG: 17

Sunday, September 7th
Detroit @ Atlanta Detroit sucks less than Atlanta. Falcons finish last in the whole league, IMO.
Seattle @ Buffalo Bills may be a sleeper, but they'll lose to Seattle.
NY Jets @ Miami Both will improve this year but none will have a winning record. Favre will help the Jets win this game but not every game.
Kansas City @ New EnglandChiefs suck. Pats don't.
Tampa Bay @ New OrleansSaints will rebound this year, and the Bucs will falter.
St Louis @ PhiladelphiaRams will still suck this year. Eagles should improve.
Houston @ Pittsburgh I actually believe that this can happen. I think that the Texans have what it has to become playoff contenders while the Steelers will falter. Their O-Line is terrible
Jacksonville @ Tennessee Titans will slip away from the rest of the AFC South this year.
Cincinnati @ Baltimore I'm not loving both of these teams, but pick the Bengals because they sucked less last year.
Dallas @ Cleveland Boys are the best in the NFC, but the Browns can still contend with them.
Carolina @ San DiegoI pray that Merriman doesn't screw up his knees more in this game, but they'll still win.
Arizona @ San Francisco 49ers suck. Cards, not as much, different league of calibur actually.
Chicago @ IndianapolisA SB XLII rematch, the Colts have a tear drawingly hard schedule and need to start off on the right foot.

Monday, September 8th
Minnesota @ Green Bay Rodgers will have a bit of difficulty in the first game, but he will catch on quickly this season, as he isn't the just drafted type of rookie. It's just his first season starting.
Denver @ Oakland Raiders could give Cutler a bit of difficulty with the duo of Hall-Asomugha, but they'll still win in a squeaker.

Thursday, September 4th
Washington @ NY Giants- This game could really go either way, but the Giants have a slightly better team despite the loss of Osi.
WAS: 20 NYG: 24
Sunday, September 7th
Detroit @ Atlanta- While I won't say I'd be shocked if the Falcons won, it is the Lions afterall, but I don't see it happening.
Seattle @ Buffalo- Seattle doesn't play that great away from Home, but they are still the better team here and should come out with a win.
NY Jets @ Miami- Miami still blows and F*** Favre!
Kansas City @ New England- Chiefs suck more dick then HT.
Tampa Bay @ New Orleans- Ryder is a b*tch.
St Louis @ Philadelphia-Egals should win a game against a lowly Rams team.
Houston @ Pittsburgh- Texans, lol, don't get your hopes up Wally.
Jacksonville @ Tennessee- Jags lost this game last year, but I think they are better and ready to start the season off with a bang.
Cincinnati @ Baltimore- Ocho Cinco FTW!
Dallas @ Cleveland- F*** the Browns! This day they pay for having a good season last year, thus screwing up Dallas' top 10 pick.
Carolina @ San Diego- Panthers are a joke with Steve Smith, without him they are among the worst teams in the league.
Arizona @ San Francisco- J.T O'Sullivan? Who? Joke.
Chicago @ Indianapolis- Even if Peyton wasn't going to play, I'd still pick the Colts.

Monday, September 8th
Minnesota @ Green Bay- Even though Rodgers hasn't started a game yet, I think he's better then Jackson. Overall, the Packers are a more solid team, but the game could go either way.
Denver @ Oakland- Denver is without Marshall, but it shouldn't matter because all they need to do is control the clock with the run and let the Raiders OL fall apart as the game goes on.

@ NY Giants Campbell is maturing and I just don't think the Giants will be able to get pressure on him.
WAS: 24 NYG: 20

Sunday, September 7th
Detroit @ Atlanta Why can't they both lose? Lions have more upside.
Seattle @ Buffalo I like the up & coming Bills, but Seattle is already there.
NY Jets @ Miami A good warmup game the Bretts.
Kansas City @ New EnglandBoston Massacre revisited.
Tampa Bay @ New OrleansBucs are cursed this year.
St Louis @ PhiladelphiaEagles just have fewer question marks
Houston @ PittsburghLol, Texans
Jacksonville @ Tennessee Lol, Titans
Cincinnati @ BaltimoreOut-on-a-limb time!
Dallas @ Cleveland Cowboys take their revenge for the Browns doing well last year.
Carolina @ San DiegoPanthers' biggest weapon is out.
Arizona @ San Francisco Lol, the Niners.
Chicago @ IndianapolisSuper Bowl XLI rematch will end pretty much the same way.

Monday, September 8th
Minnesota @ Green BayI won't believe the hype yet.
Denver @ Oakland Broncos will just run it, they don't need Marshall.

Washington @ NY Giants I'm still not a believer in Eli, even after the SB win. And without Osi and Strahan, their defense just went from really good to below average.
WAS: 24 NYG: 17

Sunday, September 7th
Detroit @ Atlanta If the Lions can beat you, then you're a bad team.
Seattle @ Buffalo I'm not too high on Seattle but they are the slightly better team here.
NY Jets @ Miami
Kansas City @ New England
Tampa Bay @ New OrleansThe Bucs blow and their defense won't be able to handle the Saint's offense.
St Louis @ Philadelphia
Houston @ Pittsburgh
Jacksonville @ Tennessee
Cincinnati @ Baltimore
Dallas @ Cleveland
Carolina @ San Diego Call be a homer, but I still think the Panthers have decent chance of winning this game. Sure losing Smith definitely hurt their chances, it's just that they have more offensive weapons now.
Arizona @ San Francisco Who's the 49ers QB?
Chicago @ Indianapolis

Monday, September 8th
Minnesota @ Green Bay This game could go either way even without Favre. But I look for AP and Allen to be the difference makers in this contest.

Thursday, September 4th
Washington @ NY Giants - I dunno about 5 new defensive starters
WAS: 21 NYG: 14

Sunday, September 7th
Detroit @ Atlanta - ATL is still rebuilding
Seattle @ Buffalo - I'm intrigued by Buffalo this year
NY Jets @ Miami - Brett will do alright
Kansas City @ New England - I don't need to justify this pick
Tampa Bay @ New Orleans - New Orleans will win the NFC South, at least thats the hype
St Louis @ Philadelphia - Westbrook is the definition of beast
Houston @ Pittsburgh - Steelers are always tough at home
Jacksonville @ Tennessee - I constantly bleed teal
Cincinnati @ Baltimore - They still got a defense don't they?
Dallas @ Cleveland - Hype won't let Cleveland survive this game
Carolina @ San Diego - lawl
Arizona @ San Francisco - Pfft San Francisco will not accomplish anything
Chicago @ Indianapolis - Peyton or not Peyton, they still have weapons

Monday, September 8th
Minnesota @ Green Bay - I think Aaron Rodgers will have a hard learning experience
Denver @ Oakland - All that money in the off season better be of some use

Good enough, thank you. When I tally these things up, it helps to be able to memorize the pattern when moving down the list.

No Upset Specials this week. Sure you want to risk the Oakland pick?

Indy and San Diego I don't know what to say about. As for Jacksonville and Seattle, they were pretty much banged up with injuries. Jax lost 2 o-line men in the offseason 1 starter and 1 key back-up to injury, and 2 other starters and 1 back-up for the o-line in the game on Sunday. And you can't count out Tenn or Buffalo either. Tenn has a commendable defense and I see Buffalo as a team with potential.

It may be Wednesday or even Thursday before I'm able to tally up the results for the week. I should have the chance to make the Week 2 thread tomorrow, because that won't take much time.

Damnit, I had originally picked Green Bay, but changed it at last minute and went with Vikings. I shouldn't have allowed myself to buy into the Vikes' D-Line hype. Tavaris Jackson sucks, he reminds me of Quincy Carter - but w/out the cannabis factor. Why the hell are Vikes banking on this guy with so many other pieces in place?

Packers never would have allowed them 2 and their are plenty of other QBs in the league the Vikings could snag for a late pick hell I would rather have Bollinger start then this moron he hasnt progressed at all...
