MICHIGAN FLOATED $30 MILLION PACKAGE TO PAYTON

"A league source tells us that the initial discussions between Michigan and Saints coach Sean Payton included reference to a financial package worth $30 million over ten years.

Payton, however, had no interest in the job, and the talks went no farther.

As we've previously said, each passing day without a hire in Ann Arbor leads us to believe that A.D. Bill Martin is waiting for an NFL coach. If Cam Cameron is fired by Miami, it could be him. There also have been rumblings about the possibility that Michigan will pursue Marvin Lewis of the Bengals and/or Mike Shanahan of the Broncos." --PFT.com

Good, and he put an end to the talks. I've heard about the interest that Michigan had, but Payton never even thought about it.

Why doesn't Michigan realize it isn't a powerhouse school anymore, they can't get whoever they want.

lmao. Michigan should just promote one of their assistant coaches. At least its nice to know, they actually are looking for other people besides Les Miles. I was starting to think they were still just stalling to pressure him to take the job.

Umm, we're talking about Sean Payton, Head Coach of the Saints and not Peyton Manning.

Maybe Ron English can get up there, but I doubt it.

Maybe someone shoulda said that to guys like USC and OSU, and told them "Bye, never be good again!" because that is basiaclly what you are saying to Michigan.

Lol! I was going to say the same thing. Oh and Shanahan isn't leaving Denver, not when he's only in his 2nd year with Cutler.
