The All-Bust Team
Players at each position who failed to deliver in 2007 ( link )
Don Banks si.com

QB Alex Smith, 49ers
48.7 completion percentage, 2 TDs, 4 INTs, 5 lost fumbles, a 2-5 record and a 57.2 passer rating that was the second-worst in the league.
Dishonorable mention: Philip Rivers, San Diego.

RB Larry Johnson, Chiefs
In the 8 games he played before injuring his right foot, he gained 559 yds, topping 120 yards only once, w/ a 3.5 yds-per-carry avg.
Dishonorable mention: Cedric Benson, Chicago.

WR Lee Evans, Bills
47 receptions for 768 yards and 4 TDs
Dishonorable mention: Santana Moss, Washington

TE Todd Heap, Ravens
injuries have limited him to 6 games, and he hasn't played since Week 10. His 23 catches for 239 yards and 1 TD would be his worst showing since his rookie season of 2001.
Dishonorable mention: L.J. Smith, Philadelphia.

OG Brian Waters, Chiefs
Dishonorable mention: Mike Wahle, Carolina.

DE Julius Peppers, Panthers
3 sacks. That's less than1/2 of his sack total in his worst season ever (7 in 2003), and an astonishing 69 players in the NFL have more sacks than he does.
Dishonorable mention: Charles Grant, New Orleans.

DT Warren Sapp, Raiders
Sapp has just 2 sacks and the Raiders run defense is being gouged for more than 150 yards per game, ranking them next-to-last in the league.
Dishonorable mention: Shaun Rogers, Detroit.

LB Bart Scott, Ravens
81 tackles, 1 sack and 4 passes defensed, as the Ravens defense has sunk to 5th in yards allowed (297.3), and 24th in points surrendered (24.2).
Dishonorable mention: Adalius Thomas, New England.

CB Nate Clements, 49ers
3 INTs. 49ers have given up 20 passing TDs (only 8 teams have surrendered more), intercepted just 10 passes (only 3 teams have fewer), and opposing QBs have a 91.2 passer rating against them (the 6th-worst defensive showing in the league). He hasn't been an ($80mil) impact player.
Dishonorable mention: Jason David, New Orleans

S Troy Polamau, Steelers
0 sacks, 0 INTs, 7 passes defensed, 2 forced fumbles, 1 recovered fumble, and 42 tackles. Knee Injury has limited him to 9 of 13 games.
Dishonorable mention: Josh Bullocks, New Orleans.

K Olino Mare, Saints
10-of-17 field goal attempts for a league-low 59-percent conversion rate.
Dishonorable mention: Neil Rackers, Arizona.

Head Coach: Eric Mangini, Jets
After appearing to close the gap on New England late last year, it's back to a mile-wide chasm.
Dishonorable mention: Brian Billick, Baltimore.

General Manager: Randy Mueller, Dolphins
He gave Joey Porter silly money in FA, gave away Wes Welker to the reigning 4-time division champs, signed a veteran QB (Trent Green) who was one hard hit away from having his eggs scrambled for good, and bypassed Brady Quinn in the draft to take a kick returner (Ted Ginn Jr.) and a 2nd-round QB (John Beck) who has looked like a deer in the headlights.
Dishonorable mention: Scot McCloughan, San Francisco.

:edit:
title chg'd to "SI's" ...posted as fyi/discussion material. (I disagree w/a couple listed here as 'busts')

Lee Evans is your bust receiver?

I can think of about 10 other wide outs I would consider bigger busts than him.

...I think Calvin Johnson is the biggest bust at wideout this year (sorry Detroit fans). I thought he certainly didn't live up to his potential.

...and what happened to Joe Horn? How about Javon Walker? I know some of these guys have been out with injuries but come on. Santana Moss has been pretty bad this season too. Tori Holt hasn't been great this year but Issaac Bruce still hasn't caught a pass.

For tight end, how about Bubba Franks? Then again, he pretty much was a bust last year so you couldn't have expected much out of him this year.

For defensive back, I would have given it to Jason David. He's done the New Orleans pass defense no justice at all this season.

Yeah, it didn't occur to me until after I posted it. Well, he might go on the "Why aren't we hearing about this guy" list of players in the NFL.

...I'd still go with Issaac Bruce though. He's one St. Louis receiver I know is a bust.

Bubba Franks isn't even a starter, you can't say he's underperformed. He's barely on the field.

Calvin Johnson? LOL. Dude, calling him the biggest bust is very ignorant... There are 4 good recievers on that team. I don't think you knew that.

Well, the thing is I expected him to have a bigger impact than he's had.

Let me compare his numbers to a few other rookie WRs in the NFL...

Calvin Johnson 12 games 37 receptions 553 yards 4 TDs
Dwayne Bowe 13 games 56 receptions 821 yards 4 TDs
James Jones 13 games 43 receptions 633 yards 2 TDs

James Jones is the Packers 3rd string receiver and even he is having a more productive year thus far. The Lions receiving core is not that great away from Roy Williams and Mike Furrey.

Lee Evans has been having an off year because of the QB controversy at Buffalo. Theres good chemistry when JP Losman is playing, and not so great chemistry when Trent Edwards is playing. I would know, I have him on my fantasy team.
