Who else here is enthusiastic about 2009-2010? we have at least4Miyamoto games coming- pikmin 3 (not pikmin wiimake), super mario galaxy 2, new super mario bros 2, and the new LOZ. 2008 was somewhat of a letdown, but I think we have some great things coming our way.Orange_Bulborb
Super Mario Galaxy hasn't been announced
New Super Mario Bros hasn't been announced
Zelda hasn't been announced as a Wii title
Pikmin 3 isn't dated
So no, those examples are not very good if you want to be optimistic.
At least pick titles that have been confirmed
Actually, in a quote by Miyamoto himself,"Maybe the best thing for you to understand is that all of the leaders of those teams - of the Mario team, of the Zelda team and of the Pikmin team -- all sit within 150 feet of my desk. The Galaxy team is the only one that's farther away - they're in Tokyo. But I do have video conferencing with them." AND while none of these are dated, you can infer that they have not just started these projects, so 2010 is possible for at least one or two.Orange_BulborbNintendo is always working on Mario and Zelda games. This is not news. In 2009 from Nintendo, expect Punch Out, Sin & Punishment 2, Wii Sports Resort and a bunch of GC ports. This will cover the majority of the year. At E3 we will find out their Fall titles (hopefully Pikmin). Don't expect Mario or Zelda though.

Erhem... He said "Optimism" not "Realism". There is a big difference between the two. But who am I kidding, you know nothing about optimism. :P Either way, it won't do anyone any harm to be optimistic and enthusiastic about 2009-2010. This is going to be a pretty huge year for both the Wii and the DS, so excitement is to be expected. Quick on the trigger and helpful as ever Mister Jay.This year has a crazy-good lineup.

There's no plans for Fatal Frame to leave Japan right now
Sadness is vaporware
Rygar is shovelware
Sin and Punishment hasn't been given a date
Pikmin hasn't been given a date
No More Heroes 2 isn't this year
Can people please stop making up games that are coming this year?

Fatal Frame is coming to Europe in February. Also he clearly put question marks after the games that aren't certain to come this year..
I think it's gonna be like 08 in terms that it's gonna start off real strong and then collapse half way through...-Skatman-the only reason 08 finished slow is because the thrid party games were some of the worst games ever made nintendo games carried the wii for the most of the year now its finally getting the thrid party support it deserves and i think we will see it for the rest of the year

Fatal Frame is comming to Europe in 2009. So its being translated into English. The others were successful on the XBOX and PS2. There's a demand for it in North America. You'll be seing FF4 in NA in 2009.
Sadness has been rumours. But various legal things I'veseen tell me it does exist. Why would the company go through the effort if it wa a hoax? I expect it to land in late 09 or early 10.
Rygar basically looks like God of War. Shovelware is puzzle games, movie games, etc. This game is going to be sweet and fill the brawler/action-adventure niche that Nintendo is lacking at the moment. I think you can atleast expect a 7/10 or 8/10 from this game.
Sin and Punishment 2 has been said to arrive in 2009 by Official Nintendo Magazine...same deal with Pikmin. The rumoured things are Mario and Zelda for 2009.
No More Heroes 2 was clearly labeled 2010 and the topic includes 2010 so stfu.

But the 3rd party finally started making more respectable games in Q4 of this year. To name a few: Shawn White, CODwaw, De Blob...there are others but I'm too lazy to finish this... Indeed it will be interesting to see how 2009-2010 shapes up. It certainly looks promising.
Don't forget Another Code R: Gateway of Memory (Feb. 5th 2009 in Japan)This year has a crazy-good lineup.

Like the 3rd party titles you named, we had some quality 3rd party support to finish the year.. Along with Wario Land and Animal Crossing, Nintendo can't hold our hand all the time.

Did you ever play Trace Memory: Two Memories on the DS? If you did Another Code R: Gateway of Memery is a sequal to Trace Memory: Two Memories. In North America Another Code R: Gateway of Memory will probably be called Trace Memory: Gateway of memory.http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/909a0218-3a62-4d6f-a290-cb07ff26fa3c The link is for the DS game.

One game that seems to be getting left off of all the "anticipated Wii games" lists is the Dracula game coming from Renegade Kid (and Gamecock). Its no doubt due to the lack of information about the game, but considering that the nature of this topic is "optimism" for '09 & '10, I think it should at least get a mention. Even if all that we have is confirmation from RK that it IS about Dracula, the rumoured title of "Son of the Dragon" (that's Romanian for Dracula ;)) and a piece of sweet-arse artwork,
!!!!!!
Seems like Renegade Kid tend to put forth the effort to create great games and make the most of the hardware they work with, so this is one game to definitely keep near the top of these lists.
You fail to mention the huge amount of games coming from third parties which will potentially be high quality titles.Haziqonfire

I'm just scared at the speculation of a new Zelda this year. Don't get me wrong, Zelda is my series of series but I heard rumors of a first person Zelda. BOOOOOOeverlong12
I don't think that was a rumor for Zelda Wii. Wasn't it just something like Miyamoto saying in an interview that it was a scrapped idea for OoT?
