For the UK

Seriously, let's 'compare the market'.

Wii- Was £180, took 10102190342184 years to get down by £30 (Jk it took around 4 years to drop the price

DS Lite always has been £100

DSI was £130

XL was £150

360 Arcade £150 approx.

PS3 - £250

Really?

I expected £180 here, wouldnt mind that much at £200 (would still mind, but....)

But £230....

Thoughts?

I will still definitely get it, but no way is it day one for me!

BTW, mods, please dont delete this! This IS the first Poll about it!

I see how you feel, the original game boy was only 62 pounds accounting for inflation. This is a nightmare for me as a guy who likes to play handheld games.

you will just have to import your games as well which when you think about it is actually the right thing to do seeing as the US get games months before us if we get them at all (on nintendo handhelds anyway) and at a cheaper price

It's as I expected. Not completely happy with it but I'll buy one. Just means one less game for me at launch.

Is there any disadvantages whatsoever of importing games from US for a US region locked 3DS for example multiplayer connectivity being hindered or anything like that.

I'm waiting for a lite. It's generally announced about a year later right? So I'll wait and get one later, then I'll have a ton of games to play and I'll be one happy camper. I wonder if we could play Super Mario 64 DS with the slide pad on the 3DS, that would be awesome.

Hmm, true I suppose. It's just that I dont have a credit card yet!

But yeah, I'll be getting one in a few months.

Could save loads. Will be worth the wait.

So, $250 is equal to around £150.... BLOODY HELL! :( Must get it online.....

Yeah it's ridiculous I guess I may just have to bite the bullet and pay the price, and if pre orders are as big in Japan, the 3DS wont go down in price for a long time. Plus I dont want to get screwed over with compatibility with multiplayer.

Amazon.de also selling for 250€, which is about 8€ less than Amazon UK, who are doing it for £219.99.

For a kid who doesn't have a job, yes it is expensive. For someone with a job, it is not bad.

I've got mates who'll blow £100+ on a night out clubbing, and I know other people who spend £30 a week on cigarettes, compared to that a handheld console that you'll get a few years use out of for £220 is nothing.

aye. id assume about 10euro P&P on top of that to get it to ireland if they do ship here. but i think my local is basically taking the whizz. sadly its the only place where i live that will sell a 3DS. i recon itll go down to 250 ish in a few weeks though. i didnt see anyone trying to pre-order just the day after the conference (not saying they have no pre-orders). certainly nothing like japan. but its definately something i will be looking into. thanks for the heads up :).

darth-pyschosis

its also gamegears. its 194 sterling though which is about 231 euros which is a good price. do you know anything abut them? i checked their site today and they have updated the 3DS preorders so you cant preorder a red one anymore and they have a few deals where its 260 euro for a 3DS a nintendogs or something.

ive never heard of them before though so im not confident in placing any sort of preorder with them.

Edit: i just checked again. the 3DS and a game deal is insane. 305 euro at the time of writing. that must be a typo or something. otherwise there basically charging 75 euro for nintendogs + cats :S.

ShopTo are currently the cheapest for 3DS in the UK. They're going for £200. £30 cheaper than most places. £30 that can buy you an extra launch title!

I might be wrong about this, but, if the handheld fails to sell well or at all in certain regions but sell well in others, Im sure Nintendo will connect the dots and realize that they might need price drop. Could be wrong. But lets hope not.

Till then just import like others have said

2 years actually....

Thanks for the information, maybe I will buy it earlier. Hm, I'll see how Nintendo's E3 goes and decide from there. Thanks again, I appreciate it.

Hey all of you people who voted you will wait some months for a bundle, Good luck with that. For a bundle you always need to wait at least one year.

One think we need to take into account is that unlike the 3DS the DS was more like an experiment. It was very very bulky, the screens were dark with little light and the screens were too separated. With the 3DS you have all the features of all the current DS models, more brightness options plus all the new features. The only think they may change later is the exterior basically the casing and maybe a bit longer battery life.
