As most DS users know 3d can be an eyesore (esp. when compared to PSP) so..

1. What do you think?

2. How can improvements be made.

Personally I want Nintendo or some other game company to build off of the example of .kkrieger (do reaserch on your own time).

Well, the DS has shown it can handle strong 3D graphics and large, detailed environments with Metroid Prime Hunters and SM64, among others. It's just a matter of developers sinking more money into their products. I wish we would see more 3D platformers and purely 3d games on the system, but it doesn't seem to be going that way.

Yeah. But its a good thing that DS games cost less to make, so it attract more developers while keeping a good ammount of sales. They surely doesn`t need to expend very much on 3d when it can still sell good.;) Anyway, from good 3d graphics to more and great games, i would go with the latter. I don`t care for good 3d graphics, myself i think FFIV graphics are quite good. BTW, TC. Try to not compare the DS here with any other system. If you do its system wars content.

Most 3d DS games just don't turn out well so developers are turned away but if they did the same thing as .kkriger I think 3d games would be much better therefore developers would make more 3d games. (it's all supply and demand)

When you say they dont turn out too well, do you mean graphically or in sales? By the way, that .kkrieger is pretty interesting. Surely would be a way to fit a lot of games in the DS if possible. Disgaea 2 FTW.

I've never seen it used on the DS, but the DSi has a cool lighting effect that looks near identical to the soft, glowy lighting of Super Mario Galaxy. Minimalistic textures(allowing for a slightly higher polycount) and and this lighting could make a pretty good looking game.

I also think devs should do more work with the cel shader. Without a texture filter, having lots of textures doesn't work too well on the DS. Creating art sty*les that require few textures would be best imo.

True, but if an improvement can be made, then why not?

It just doesn't seem like it would be a dramatic difference.. if the next gen of handhelds came out and they still looked like they do now it would be a problem, but is extra time trying to push a few pixels worth sacrificed time on the gameplay?

Why does anything have to be sacrificed? Read my first post. The only thing that needs to be done is to find an artstyle that works around/hides the system's weaknesses. No need to push the hardware any further, they just need to take all features into consideration when designing the visuals.

I think the DS has good enough graphics. I haven't seen anything wrong with any of the games I have. Maybe it's just me though.
