One thing that made tghe DS so amazing was that it has a perfectly symmetrical button placement so the stylus can be used with either left or right hand. and most games (if not all idk) had this option to switch between D-pad and ABXY so you can use the appropriate hand for the stylus

while the 3DS has a joystick it loses its symmetry and may no longer be left had friendly

i mean how am i (a left handed person =D) supposed to use the joystick and the stylus?

so is there any news on a left hand friendly 3DS coming out? (where the joystick is placed on the other side)

I seriously doubt they're going to make a left-handed version.

Yes, they need to do that. Besides, I forgot who it was, either Shigeru Miyamoto or Satoru Iwata, is a lefty!!! You'd think they would make lefty versions or something.

I would think lefties are used to it. I thought they just adapted to things like this.

Are people really incapable of using their right hand for something as simple as using the stylus? How are you still alive if you can only use one hand lol?

Try using precise stylus movements with your left hand.

i don't think so, but then again it was rarely an issue for me. TWEWY is the only game i can think of that really benefited from the simetry, all other stylus-heavy games seemed to value lefties nad having to map regular buttons to the D-pad, if you think about it.

I'm ambidextrous so it doesn't count. But the stylus doesn't require much dexterity to use, its like tracing a line with your finger, you should be able to do that with any hand. The only thing I can see is it might be uncomfortable for some people to hold a pen like device in their off hand, but precision shouldn't be an issue.

I'm able to use my left hand on some DS games. May have took some practice but I get it precise enough to where I'm able to complete most task like drawing those seal symbols in Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow or controlling Link in PH/ST when I'm feel too lazy to use my right hand. (I usually play my DS while I'm laying down. So whatever arm I'm laying on, which is usually my right arm, is the arm I hold my DS up with while using the other arm to complete whatever touch commands needed to be complete....)

Actually, it's more like writing, not tracing. Besides, you just said you're ambidextrous, you wouldn't know exactly, and everyone is differen't anyway. Plus, lefties would just prefer using their left hand anyway, so it would just be at least inconvenient, or even for some, impossible.

i never owned an FPS for the DS, but i played plenty of metroid prime hunters (even if it was that lame demo) on my friend's DS. i obviously prefer moving the character with the Dpad, on the left, rather than with the buttons on the right (having played this way for the past 15 years). so instead of using the stylus on my right hand, which wasn't really practical, i'd put on the thumb strap, and wouldn't you know it, it's easier than aiming with the stylus, regardless of which hand i'm using. yes, there is a use for the thumb strap, it's helping lefties play games.
