We saw how with the DSi and DSi XL that Nintendo added the feature of being able to use SD cards with the DS. Will the 3DS use miniature CDs/DVDs/UMDs? Or will Nintendo still stick with cartridges? Furthermore, though this is probably out of the question, should the 3DS be able to play GBA games in addition to 3DS and DS games, or a possibility to save an image of the games on a SD card (probably not)?

I'm kinda hoping for this as well. Though UMDs and all that can probably hold a lot more, which these games are gonna need, cartridges eliminate the need to buy extra equipment just to save a game.

Actuellement, the 3DS is said to have cartridges. Click here and click on features. It says the 3DS uses 2GB game cards

Chances are they'll be sticking to cartridge's which I think is the smart way to go.And there will be no GBA slot that's for sure as for playing them on an sd card no way Nintendo will let that happen cause that would be technically pirating their games.Even if you own the game Nintendo wouldn't chance with people who didn't own the games.

Cartridge is the way to go. Chips are cheap enough these days to hold the kind of content that Gamecube and PSP disks hold (1.4 and 1.8GB respectively). I guess the 3DS will use a range of sized cartridges from 128MB up to 4GB, depending on the needs of the game. I can only imagine 4GB being required for cutscene heavy games. Back in 2005, the PSP was forced to use optical media due to the insanely high price of solid state storage. DS games and cartridges were small enough to ensure this wasn't a massive problem.

Yeah, I don't really see Nintendo ever using anything other than digital forms of media for their handheld gaming..never have, never will. The cartridges are just more efficient and they have more room to grow (they always doubling the capacity of SD cards and cartridges alike).
