I'm very excited about the 3DS but they've only put one analog stick on the console and it's on the left side. So if i'm playing a game and using my left hand to use the stylus, i'm not going to be able to use the analog stick! I'll be back to using a,b,x,y buttons as my D-Pad. It seems pretty safe to say there isn't a left handed version of this console coming out, and it's pretty much guaranteed games will require use of both the stylus and the analog stick at the same time. So being left handed that analog stick is looking pretty redundant to me.

Yeah...I'm left handed, and I just realised too. I guess they forgot about us, well, there aren't much of us anyway :P.

My guess is that games that require the stylus will either have the option to play dual-analogish, kinda like Metroid Prime Hunters where you could play dual button.

or Nintendo will (unlikely) make a left handed version

My guess is the first one though, there will be a way, and I doubt they will require the stylus fully. I can't imagine the analog stick and the stylus being used at once, the analog stick seems to be of another preference, or in-game camera control...oh well :)

I'm lefty too. But Developers will hopefully simply build the controls so this stylus/stick same time thing doesn't happen

I don't get it. I've used the analog stick on a dual shock with my right hand before and I'm right handed. It's not that hard.

those were the first things that i thought, but it's a matter of getting used. it's not like there are many games where having the stylus on your writing hand while moving the character is that important

I don't really get it. I'm the only right handed person in my family (out of 7 kids) and we're all gamers. And throughout the 80's and 90's anyone could get into gaming no matter what hand you are, and those control pads had control stick on left and buttons on right all the time, and I never heard anyone complain. I'm sure it won't be that big a deal.

i think he meant that when you have to use the stylus and the D-pad (games like TWEWY, i guess), or in the case of the 3DS, stylus and analog, it would be more convenient for lefties to have a second analog.

For people that don't get it: the concern is not having to use the analog with your left hand and buttons with the right, it is having to hold the stylus (like a pen) in your right.

I can't imagine many games requiring you to do that. I actually can't even think of a good reason to use the analog over the d-pad when using the stylus... and that's no worse than things already are.

Well look at the bright side, you can train yourself to be ambidextrous by playing video games :).

Play the 3DS upsidedown.. just think for a moment and you'll realize that is a solution for left handers
jokes, but its still a prototype model, as far as ergonomics are concearned, they will do their research on current user percentiles in terms of hand sizes button placement, that is one of the fundementals of product design, the 3DS so far is a proof of concept prototype
So you can't use your right hand with the stylus? You lefties are supposed to be better with the right than right handers with the left... I don't see any problem here at all. I'm not sure that it's "guaranteed" that games will use the analog and stylus at the same time either. Maybe a few will, but I still don't see the problem unless you're handicapped, but then you'd have problems either way.

Well Shigeru Miyamoto himself is left-handed (at least that's what I heard) so I'm sure there will be some left-handed options available, at least for first party games anyway.

yes, but not as well. The reason beeing that my right hand feels stronger for writing, but it still feels comfortable with my left. My feet are a different story though. i'm a lefty with my feet

If a game is using the analog stick, its likely probably only going to use the stylus similarly to pressing buttons, which shouldn't be foreign to anyone. Anyway can you really not manipulate the stylus with your right hand, what do you have one for lol?

I've tried using the right hand before for the stylus, but it's horribly inaccurate. My writing with the right hand, is slow, messy, and indecipherable, playing a game like the world ends with you right handed with a stylus, means i can't pull off a lot of the moves, because my right hand is trained or dextrous enough to do it, only my left hand is, much as it would be i'd imagine for many right handers, if you had the analog on the right hand side and had to use your left hand for the analog stick you'd probably find yourself having similiar problems as I. If i wanted to play a game like metroid prime hunters, my shooting would be terrible, i'd never hit anything. So yes, this is quite a problem, if there are games that require the manipulation of both a stylus and the analog stick, i don't want to be using the d-pad, i'll have just paid for some tech that i can't even use. I just hope Nintendo take a moment to consider all us lefties.

It's all about getting accustomed to it a guess. It would be pretty cool if they released a left handed version of the 3DS though , wouldnt it ;)

They will probably add something to it to make it compatible for the left hand.
