3DS release date

The DSi XL has barely been around for 3 months, yet many still believe the 3DS will be released before the end of the year.. It has been said countless times it will be released no later than march of next year.. Forget about all the reasons it would be beneficial to release the 3DS this year. Do people honestly expect them to release the 3DS within 6-9 months after the DSi XL????

yea i say next year too. doesnt the wii have alot of software support coming out this holiday? Cause if it does why would they have a new system come out and take away the attention for another they've been focusing onDaAlienMan

The DS is still moving a lot of units and software...I expect the 3DS to be pushed back to Q2 of 2011, Q1 2011 at the earliest.

The DSiXL has no effect at all on the 3DS's release. I know we will all own one by March 31st 2011

Don't forget that the Game Boy Micro was released after the original DS.

I would be surprised if it isn't out before Christmas in a least one region. Probably next march in Europe though. :(

They will probably stop / scale back production of the DS Lite soon and switch the factories over to the 3DS to meet expected demand. I doubt you'll be able to buy a new DS Lite after Christmas. The DSi and XL will keep going a bit longer though.

I didn't realise they already discontinued it. That points to 3DS launching sooner rather than later.

I'm hoping it will get released this holiday but waiting for March 31, 2011 is also good for me. As long as I get my Nintendo 3DS, it's going to be fine with me!wilford88

I'm hoping it'll be out this holiday season too, but March 2011 or further is fine with me. I'm also hoping the longer wait means more time to fix bugsand more features they can add.

Yes, XL was an additional stop gap in the DS generation to lengthen it, but the 3DS is the start of a new gen

Additionally, of course they will, they released the GBA SP Backlit, and the GB Micro after the DS

If they plan to launch it in all regions by March, that means some regions will get it sooner than others, so launching the system 1-2 months before the holiday rush, is stupid and they could get more consumers to see the 3D, which is the only way consumers will want itis to see whats so different on the 3DS, and we all know, especially in North America, the most consumers are out shopping after thanksgiving

Turning down the oppurtunity to get potentially millions more consumers to look at your console, during a shopping season, is not something any business should turn down

I want Nintendo to take their time and make the 3DS good, not bad and hopeless. I'll be able to wait 'till '11 if it will turn out better.

I really want it to come out in fall. I really do, but that doesn't seem possible.

I honestly do not care when the 3DS come out, but when it does come out I want to see what people think of it.

after Zelda being pushed back to next year I wouldn't be shocked if it was out for a holiday release of 2011.
