So, this is scheduled for May 1st, no? What is it going to include? The VC? What's going to be available?

Huh? where did you hear this? I thought the VC (which will be included in the eshop) would launch later in may, not right off the bat. A link would help solve my confusion.
It is scheduled for late May I think. It will include:
-3DS browser.
-e shop (DSiWare, 3DSWare, Virtual Handheld games)
-DSi Game transfers (transfer DSiWare to the 3DS)
Some other things are possible, such as video recording, or instant messaging to friends, among other things.

Ah, late May. I knew it was May.
So, all this is 100% confirmed? The browser seems rather pointless, imo, but its the eshop that i'm interested in. I hope that there's actually stuff IN the shop when it launches, though.

There will be 'stuff', but like the Wii shop when that first launched, I don't think there'll be much to buy in it. I think there'll be a lot of promotional stuff for retail games (they've said they were gonna have preview videos so you can see what a game looks like etc) and probably 2-5 things to buy. I seem to remember hearing that Mario Land and Links Awakening were going to be very early releases, if not day 1, but I'm not 100% sure.

Not for the those wanting to connect their 3DS to the internet through public wifi as most require validation through a web browser.

Oooo Mario land and Links awankening =)I really hope this system gets a lot of support in this respect. I hope Links DX is in 3D. I hope Nintendo is a-ok for developers to release psn/xbla type games over this thing.
[QUOTE="darkspineslayer"]I'll have a $20 card on hand for the day it launches. need Megaman Legends 3 Prototype and the 2 GB gamesRod90I thought current nintendo point cards will not work with the eShop. They won't...I'll have one of the new cards, or a Visa enabled gift card
The update also includes a free download of ExciteBike 3D. Kind of nice. That and Megaman Legends should be fun.NozizakiThe freebie will only be a limited time offer for early updaters though.
