Really? I don't see why the browser would be all that important? I can see how it may be useful every now and then, but with laptops, cell phones, game consoles... pretty much everything everywhere having a web browser (and I can guarantee the 3DS browser isn't going to be all that impressive) I don't see why it's so important to have the browser running at launch. It's kind of just an extra feature on something that was built for gaming.
I dont know about the web browser, but maybe just like the eshop, they are trying to make the web browser fun to use... like making it actually enjoyable? I dont know, all I know is that the eshop wasnt ready right from the get go because Nintendo wants to make sure that the eShop will be 100% better than shop on the DSi and Wii.
The browser is important for one thing: many free public wi-fi spots require a browser (to sign their agreements) before one can log in. Without a broswer I was unable to log in to my university network.
Does anyone know when the virtual console is going to go online?
Yup. This is actually one of my complains... How could they NOT have the browser working at launch??? :(wilford88Why do they need it? If you have the ability to use the browser, you have an Internet connection and therefore probably a computer as well. The features that are missing at launch are actually all online stuff. I appreciate that, because someone who doesn't have a wireless Internet connection or perhaps no Internet connection at all can play a launch 3DS without any firmware upgrades, and they'll still get the same experience as if they used a 3DS with all the firmware updates.
